When Are We Getting More Multiplayer Shooters on Nintendo Switch 2?

The Switch 2 is already proving to be a powerful system, playing games like Street Fighter 6 and Cyberpunk 2077 easily. Add all of those Nintendo exclusives, and it’s clear to see why fans are going crazy for this hybrid console. Now that we know what kind of games it can run, some of us want more multiplayer shooters on the new handheld.

Specifically, I want Marvel Rivals on the Switch 2.

Fans are already enjoying a decent number of multiplayer shooters on the Switch 2. Fortnite was able to get a better version on this console, matching the PC and current-gen console ports of Epic’s shooter. Splatoon 3 got an update that makes it look and run better on Nintendo’s new hybrid console, while Call of Duty is also expected to arrive on this system soon.

Prior to Splatoon, Nintendo hadn’t always done well in the multiplayer shooter scene. Wii U did have some Call of Duty games, but that console eventually stopped receiving them. The Switch is home to various free-to-play and paid online titles, but they were always burdened by Nintendo’s hardware. There’s a reason Overwatch 2 and Apex Legends players dislike these games on Switch.

With Call of Duty coming to the Switch 2, whenever that happens, it should open the floodgates for even more multiplayer shooters. Delta Force has been making waves, and we’re sure some Nintendo fans will want to try that out. Gears of War: Reloaded is another obvious candidate, should Microsoft be able to get this iconic shooter a Switch 2 port.

More importantly, it would be very good to have Marvel Rivals on the Switch 2.

Selfishly, I'm enjoying Rivals on the Steam Deck and know it would play a lot better on the Switch 2. If NetEase can get the free-to-play shooter to run natively and have cross-progression, it would be an instant hit with fans. New players will get a unique way to play with these iconic comic book characters, and existing users will have a different way to try this game out.

Beyond Marvel Rivals, we’re sure fans would want Halo: The Master Chief Collection to work on Switch 2. While it had a rough launch, this collection is now a must-have for PC and Xbox Series fans. If the rumors of this series coming to PS5 are true, you can bet that Xbox will also bring the collection to Nintendo.

For the most part, we would like to see the Switch 2 as a home for mostly single-player games. Donkey Kong Bananza and Cyberpunk 2077 are good examples of that. Final Fantasy VII Remake also has fans talking about the series’ potential on this handheld. But that doesn’t mean multiplayer games shouldn’t have a home here, too.
