Palicos have always been useful companions in any of the Monster Hunter titles. That is also true in Monster Hunter Wilds where the Felynes have various support moves that they can use to aid the Hunter in the fights against monsters like Xu Wu or Nu Udra.

It is quite handy to have Felyne support moves which range from offensive to utility skills. There are a total of 12 Palico skills, some of which can be unlocked through Optional Quests such as the Rath-from-Above and Plunderang.

Find out what the Flashfly Cage skill does and how you can get it for your Palico!

What is the Flashfly Cage Skill?

The Flashfly Cage support move is a utility skill where your Palico would set up a Flashfly Cage that you can activate. Flashflies are bugs that can be used to blind the monsters and allow you to have some leverage when going against them.

The in-game text reads: "I'll place a cage of Flashflies for you to use whenever! They are really good at blinding monsters, but some monsters get more aggressive when they're blinded, so be careful!"

How to Get the Flashfly Cage Skill

To get the Flashfly Cage support move, you need to speak to your Palico at your tent in any of the base camps. You will have to wait for them to reach their destination before you can talk to them. In this Side Mission called "Flash Course," you will catch some Flashflies.

The Side Mission's description reads: "Your Palico has requested that you capture Flashflies. This time, the words "spark of inspiration" were taken literally with an idea for a support move that'll blind monsters. Ready your capture net and capture the shining bugs to shed some light on your hunts!"

You just need to head out to the field and capture some Flashflies. You do not need to fight any monsters that you encounter since the main focus is just getting Flashflies, but be my guest if you want to hunt any of the monsters.

When you look at your map, various markers can be seen and you just need to find the yellow flashfly icon. You can also use the "Filter Icons" function when opening the fullscreen map on the bottom left.

The capture net is already part of the player's items and needs to be selected in the bottom right. Aim the capture net at the Flashfly and press the 'Use' button (R on the PC).

After successfully capturing the Flashfly, you may head back to any base camp and speak to your Felyne friend. You will hand over the Flashfly you caught and after some dialogue, the Side Mission will be marked as completed. You can now let your Palico use the Flashfly Cage skill when you want to!
