Hunters will have their adorable Felyne friends come with them in Monster Hunter Wilds while out on the fields doing quests and explorations. Having them around already gives you some real-life moral boost, but they are also quite handy helpers with their own equipment sets and support moves.
There are a total of 12 Palico skills available, with some of them already unlocked by default and can be used immediately. However, there are some like the Plunderang skill that require you to complete a quest before it becomes available.
In this guide, you will learn about how the Palico Rath-from-Above support move works and how to unlock it.
What Is the Palico Rath-from-Above Skill?
The Rath-from-Above is an offensive Palico support move that allows your Felyne to provide you with cover using fire. The in-game description reads: "Gemma and I have finally completed our masterpiece: Rath-from-Above! Now I can provide covering fire. I might even shoot down a wyvern!"
You will see your Palico riding on a small hot air balloon, just firing away at the monster while you hack and slash with the best meta weapons in the game at the same time.
How to Get the Palico Rath-from-Above Skill
To get the Palico skill Rath-from-Above, you will need to complete the Optional Quest named "Rath-from-Above, Go!". To get this quest, you need to reach Chapter 4 and must have finished the Side Mission called "Flash Course."
You will need to speak to your Palico at your tent at any base camp as they are the quest giver. After speaking to them, you will learn that they have been working on a new prototype that can help you in battle.
You need to be HR 9 or higher and can only have one other Hunter to take on this Optional Quest. If you need some help on how to connect with a friend, make sure to check out our multiplayer guide to assist you.
The quest description reads: "Please hunt the Quematrice sighted near the village! I can lend a paw with the Rath-from-Above too. It's my first time using it, so I dunno if it'll work - but I'll give it my best shot!"
You will be hunting a Quematrice in Windwards Plains so you will either defeat or capture the monster. Both will count as quest completion. Fail conditions include time expiration (the time limit is 50 minutes) and fainting 3 times.
After completing the quest, you must speak to your Palico again at the tent. You need to wait for them to reach their destination before you can talk to them. Once done, you will then receive the new Palico support move "Rath-from-Above." Let your Palico fire away at the monsters with the new Palico skill!
There are 4 other Palico support moves that you can acquire through the completion of Optional Quests. Be sure to read our guides for other skills including the Vigorwasp Revival, which is a lifesaver.
