Want an up-to-date Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls tier list? I’ve got you covered.

The latest Arc System Works fighting game dropped this past August 6. While PC performance has been an issue during the release timeframe, there’s no denying the game has a fun core foundation that can be improved in the coming months.

With a roster of 21 heroes and villains, picking the right team can be daunting. That being said, even if it’s early days, quite a few characters are rising to the top of their ranks, dominating Tokon’s launch meta.

Want to find out which ones? Then keep on reading. While you’re here, why not check out some Marvel Tokon beginner tips?

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Character Tier List

This tier list will be based on the character’s overall strength. This includes how good they are in a vacuum, how good their assists are, and even how hard or easy they are to use.

Do note that tier lists are not an exact science, and in this case, they can fluctuate wildly since Marvel Tokon is a very fresh game. Let’s begin.

This tier list was last updated on August 20, 2026.

The way the tiers work is as follows:

  • S-Tier: The absolute demons of the game. They excel at almost every aspect of Marvel Tokon, including neutral, working as point characters, or as an assist.
  • A-Tier: Absolutely worth investing your time learning. These aren’t as universally great as the ones in S-Tier but still highly valuable.
  • B-Tier: Solid but have a few weaknesses in key spots. Maybe they work better as assists or are only good point characters with very little value elsewhere in your team building.
  • C-Tier: Extremely niche and underexplored characters. They could rise in the ranks if more time is put into their kits, but it’s not looking good.
  • D-Tier: Universally agreed-upon worse characters in the game.

S-Tier

The characters in S-Tier are Spider-Man, Storm, Magik, and Black Panther.

These are absolutely the best characters in the game. You’ll be surprised that Green Goblin isn’t here (more on him later), but these are the Fantastic Four of Marvel Tokon.

Want easy access to high-low mixups? Want big buttons to control space in neutral? Want some of the best back assists in the entire game? A ton of blockstun to run offense? There’s nothing these can’t offer you.

Sure, a character like Magik doesn’t have the mix-up potential of Spidey or Shuri, but she has big normals to convert from basically any stray hit. Similarly, Storm’s normals might not be huge, but she can essentially skip neutral and put you in a blender whenever she wants.

Not only that, all of these are super easy to pilot. Basic combos that do a lot of damage will be at your disposal with minimal grinding. So if you don’t want to suffer in ranked, these should be your go-to characters.

A-Tier

The characters in A-Tier are Blade, Green Goblin, Captain America, Star-Lord, Loki, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Magneto

A-Tier, the perfect spot for the delusional players who think their character is honest. In reality, they are overtuned, but not quite as bad as the ones sitting in S-Tier. The perfect example being Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin himself.

You’ve probably seen what players like SonicFox are pulling. Perhaps the nastiest mix-up potential in the entire game, while you’re in the corner trying to block all the glider set-ups. That’s good and all, but running Goblin point is asking for trouble against fast-paced characters like Spider-Man, BP, or Storm.

Mr. Steve Rogers has a ton of sauce this game, with some cute shield set-ups that can ruin anyone’s day, but again, he runs into issues when trying to compete with how absurd the top-tiers are. You can make arguments and counter-arguments for the rest of the characters in this tier.

I do need to mention Blade, as he has the best back assists in the game. Even if you’re only learning one or two characters at a time, stick him in that fourth slot; you’ll thank me later.

B-Tier

The characters in B-Tier are Deadpool, Hulk, Dr. Doom, Carnage, and Ghost Rider.

Now we’re running into characters with cleared weaknesses or who aren’t as well explored.

Deadpool can dish out serious damage, but you’re always having to sacrifice a bit of your own HP because his main gimmick is self-inflicted damage to get access to Fourth Wall Moves, making him a glass cannon.

Carnage is another character with the potential to end a round if you get caught slipping with a full cash-out. The problem is finding an opening, as he feels sluggish and heavy to play in a developing meta that favors fast-paced movement.

Dr. Doom and Hulk run into the same issues as Carnage. Sure, they can evaporate your health if they find an opening, but even with Hulk’s armored moves or Victor’s heavy zoning tools, that opening doesn’t come as easily as you might think.

C-Tier

The characters in C-Tier are Peni Parker and Danger.

This tier is rather strange. I don’t think these are bad characters at all, but players haven’t gravitated towards them for a variety of reasons.

Peni is a big body with incredible movement, but her gimmick will take time for players to grasp, as she tosses random items on screen, forcing you to think on the fly and route your combos accordingly. She has solid assists, so I can see her moving up a few tiers once more lab monsters figure out uses for her.

As for Danger, good luck finding anyone trying to make her work. She’s too difficult in a game that rewards simplicity due to how hectic it can get. I don’t doubt the community at large is sleeping on her, but as it stands, she doesn’t belong anywhere above C-Tier.

D-Tier

The characters in D-Tier are The Champion and Ms. Marvel.

The two undisputed worst characters in the game: The Champion and Ms. Marvel.

Champion has good damage and a decent fireball, but being unable to call out assists beyond his own projections already puts him at a massive disadvantage; he can get easily zoned out and even outboxed by characters with big normals like Magik.

Ms. Marvel has very easy-to-react overheads, doesn’t excel at any particular range, and is overall too floaty, making her an easy target for fast-moving demons like Black Panther or Spider-Man, who I’d argue cover Kamala’s function of being a mid-range demon much better than she does. If there are two characters I expect Arc Sys to buff in the near future, it’s these two.
