Mantles are unique items that offer powerful buffs to hunters, and one of the most notable is the Evasion Mantle. Ideal for those who prefer the dodge, move, and strike playstyle, this Mantle greatly enhances your dodging skill, taking it to new heights.
This guide delves into the details of acquiring the Evasion Mantle, the challenges you may face along the way, and an overview of the mechanics that make this Mantle so ideal for rogue and assassin playstyle lovers.
Hunt the Frenzied Nerscylla
To unlock the Evasion Mantle, you'll need to progress through the Main Story and complete a particular mission. You’re tasked to hunt and defeat the Frenzied Nerscylla during the Investigating the Frenzied Shadow quest.
Once you’re ready, speak with Fabius before heading to the Wounded Hollow. Here, you'll discover that the Frenzy virus has spread, setting the stage for what lies ahead.
You can find Frenzied Nerscylla just below the cliffs where crystals cover everything. However, taking down this formidable foe can be a daunting task, especially if you're unfamiliar with its weaknesses and the debuffs it can inflict on you.
It’s exceptionally weak against the Fire Element while resistant to Water and Dragon Elements. So, don’t forget to bring Fire-based items with you.
The Frenzied Nerscylla is armed with multiple special attacks. It can inflict Poison, Sleep, and Bind (Webbed) status ailments, with the latter two serving as hard crowd controls. Its normal attack moves are quite impressive, featuring slicing, sweeping, diving, and charging maneuvers. Watch the stinger too!
When attacking Frenzied Nerscylla, try to avoid attacking its claws as they can deflect your strikes. Instead, focus on the beast's belly and unleash Fire Element attacks to deal maximum damage.
Once defeated, report back to Fabius and the Allhearken to complete the quest and unlock the Evasion Mantle. Visit Gemma, the Blacksmith, to learn more about your newly unlocked item.
Evasion Mantle
The Evasion Mantle extends your invulnerability window while evading enemy attacks and temporarily improves your attacks after dodging a monster at the very last moment. The effect lasts for 90 seconds and must recharge for 600 seconds to be used again.
But what makes this Mantle different from others is its mechanics. The Evasion Mantle essentially extends the i-frames (invincible frames) when evading and increases the distance of the dodge roll.
If you evade while the i-frames are active, you get a 20% attack boost for 10 seconds. The Mantle’s buff lasts for 90 seconds and by perfecting your evasive maneuvers, you can easily take down enemies. Plus, some weapons can access powerful moves whenever you successfully evade an attack.
