If you got excited watching the gameplay reveal of Bungie's Marathon, you'll be happy to hear a Closed Alpha is coming.
Sure, the extraction shooter is not too far off, releasing in September, but those lucky enough to be selected for the Closed Alpha will be able to play it this month.
There are a few steps you need to follow in order to opt-in for the Marathon Closed Alpha. Let's not dilly-dally and break down everything you need to know.
How To Opt-In for the Marathon Closed Alpha
If you want to have a chance at getting invited to the Marathon Closed Alpha. Here's what you need to do:
- Join the official Marathon Discord
- Enter the command /alpha in any of the Marathon Discord channels
- You'll receive a private message in that channel just for you
- The private message will give you a unique link to Bungie's site where you can register for the Closed Alpha
- If chosen, you'll receive an email from marathonthegame@info.bungie.net. Double-check your spam folder constantly in case your invitation gets dropped there
Marathon Closed Alpha Start Date and End
The Closed Alpha is right around the corner. If selected, you'll be able to play it starting on April 23. The testing period will end a couple of weeks later, on May 4.
Invitations will come in waves. So even if you don't get in at the start of the Closed Alpha period, there is still a chance to be selected throughout the timeframe it will be available.
Who Can Play In The Marathon Closed Alpha?
There are two major requirements to register for the Marathon Closed Alpha:
- You have to be 18+ years old
- You mut reside in the United States or Canada
If you can't sign up or are not selected, at least you have the Marathon ARG.
It's worth noting that you may be able to register for the Closed Alpha if you're not currently residing in those countries. It's likely that your chances of being selected will be slim, and your experience will be subpar as the test is focused on NA server performance.
And that's pretty much all you need to know. Remember that Marathon releases on September 23 for PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. You won't need a PSN account on platforms outside of Sony's, Bungie has confirmed.
