  • Quick Answer: The piece explains that Art Lover in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a long-form collection quest where players gather 30 art pieces across multiple systems, returning to Bernard at key milestones (15, 25, 30) to progress the narrative and unlock rewards tied to Edward’s restoration of the Great Inagua manor.

Art Lover is one of the new side quests introduced in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

It follows Edward’s attempt to restore the art collection once displayed inside the Great Inagua manor, with pieces earned through exploration, naval combat, treasure hunting, and several other activities across the Caribbean.

You need to collect 30 pieces of art to finish the full questline, although Bernard will ask you to return to the manor after reaching 15 and 25 pieces as well.

Each milestone continues his story and provides a separate set of rewards.

How Do You Start The Art Lover Quest?

The Art Lover quest becomes available after completing This Old Cove, the Sequence 4 mission that introduces Edward to the Great Inagua hideout.

During the mission, he meets Bernard Woodhouse, an elderly butler who served at the estate before Julien du Casse took control of it.

Bernard explains that the manor previously belonged to Lady Catherine Ann Summers, who had hoped to fill the property with artwork.

Much of the collection was later removed or sold, leaving Bernard eager to see it restored.

Once This Old Cove is complete, look for the Art Lover quest marker near the water wheel and garden entrance beside the manor.

Interacting with the marker begins a cutscene with Bernard and officially starts the quest.

How Do You Collect Art Pieces?

Art pieces come from several different activities, so you do not need to search for 30 traditional paintings.

Ship models, statues, vases, maps, decorative objects, and other items that can be displayed around the manor may all contribute to the collection.

One of the easiest ways to build the collection is by defeating and boarding enemy ships.

Boarding a particular ship type for the first time unlocks a model of that vessel.

British and Spanish versions are counted separately, allowing you to earn models for Cutters, Schooners, Brigs, Frigates, and Man-o-Wars. More ship models are also awarded automatically during the main story.

You can purchase six pieces from any General Store, although these cost Reales and are not essential if you are willing to complete more activities.

Buying them can be useful near the end of the quest when you only need a few more pieces, but saving them until then prevents you from spending money unnecessarily.

You can also earn paintings by successfully raiding certain plantation warehouses for the first time.

Find the keyholder or steal the key without being detected, unlock the warehouse, and loot its supplies to receive the associated reward.

Some ordinary chests containing secrets may also hold displayable objects, including statues, vessels, or other decorations.

You can find these throughout islands and settlements, so exploring the world is another steady way to increase your total.

The pirate and Templar portraits around the manor do not count toward Art Lover.

Only items listed as part of the Art Collection count toward its milestones.

Several buried treasure chests reward Edward with an art piece alongside their other contents. The relevant treasure maps and digging coordinates are:

  • New Bone at 722,607
  • Abaco Island at 543,694
  • Jiquey at 812,114
  • Principe at 605,132

The Principe treasure cannot be collected until the main story takes Edward to the island, since it is unavailable on the regular world map beforehand.

You do not need all four treasures to complete the quest if you gather enough pieces elsewhere, but they provide guaranteed additions to the collection and can reduce the amount of money you need to spend at General Stores.

Some Kenway’s Fleet assignments also award art pieces, so open the fleet map from the Jackdaw’s cabin or the Great Inagua manor and check the rewards listed for Piracy and Trade missions.

Piracy assignments require a Brig, while Trade missions require a Schooner.

Missions that provide an art piece are generally marked with a decorative item or furniture image and a “1x” label among the rewards.

The available missions may change, so check the reward list before sending one of your ships.

Fleet missions are not the fastest source of art on their own, but they can contribute pieces while you continue with other quests and activities.

When Should You Return To Bernard?

The Art Lover quest has three collection milestones at 15, 25, and 30 pieces.

Return to Bernard whenever the quest marker reappears at Great Inagua, as each milestone triggers another cutscene and advances his story concerning Lady Catherine.

After the 25-piece conversation, examine the nearby table beside the flowers to find Bernard’s Reply, a letter connected to his relationship with Lady Catherine.

You can check your current collection through the Inventory menu by opening the Bag and scrolling down to the Art Collection section.

The quest can also be tracked through the side quest list on the world map. Once you have collected all 30 pieces, return to the manor for the final objective.

Bernard will eventually meet Edward in the basement, where the last cutscene concludes the quest.

Reaching 15 pieces rewards Edward with the Le Bourgeoys Blades and the Found Coin trinket.

The 25-piece milestone unlocks a collection of Aquila-themed ship cosmetics, consisting of the Aquila’s Sails, Aquila’s Wheel, and Aquila Figurehead.

Turning in all 30 pieces completes Art Lover and rewards the Master Assassin outfit, the Obsidian Hull ornament, and 4,000 Reales.

The outfit is based on Ezio’s appearance and is the main reward for players looking to unlock every costume.
