YouTuber TGG, who was among the content creators invited to Rockstar North, revealed that GTA 6 will feature upgraded robbery and economy mechanics.
In the studio, creators were able to get a first look at the game, as well as ask questions to the team behind the most-anticipated title of the year. TGG was able to learn more about how money and heists will work in this entry.
Here's everything revealed so far.
New Robbery & Economy Mechanics in GTA 6
According to TGG, money is now split into three ways: your bank balance, cash on your person, and loot stored in a duffel bag.

Money in your bank is safe, while you may need to deposit your physical cash at an ATM to avoid losing it or having it stolen, just like in GTA V. Meanwhile, stolen loot in a duffel bag must be taken to a fence so that it can be converted to usable cash. Stolen goods do not automatically turn into cash, and they need to be taken to the appropriate fence.
Fences are discovered and unlocked as you progress through the story. Because of that, you'll need to think twice if a certain robbery is worth it - you might not have met someone capable of selling the loot you stole.
There will be plenty of ways for you to rob for money. There are small locations, like convenience stores and gas stations, that can be robbed but won't necessarily appear as opportunities on your map. In fact, almost every store you enter can be robbed. Some stores will have safes in the back, but you'll need to discover the combination to steal from them.

However, higher-level robberies, such as banks, will appear on the map with an estimate of how much money you can make. These are high-risk, high-reward robberies - so continue at your own risk.

Additionally, characters, favors, and tips from NPCs can also help you discover opportunities to steal and rob from others. You'll also find opportunities to steal while exploring - and doing so is just as important as completing other side content.
Not all robberies will be successful. It can play out differently depending on the location and NPC behaviour. Some civilians, clears, and security can prevent you from a successful heist. Certain stores will also have security cameras that will catch you in the act. But hey, Jason or Lucia (or both) might find a back entrance to escape.

Though you need to keep in mind what robberies are worth pursuing, you also have to constantly make money. At certain points, the main story will stop progressing because Jason and Lucia need a certain amount of cash. TGG stated that Rockstar wants to encourage players to explore Leonida and find heist opportunities themselves to get the required cash.
You might be wondering what the money can be spent on. Money can be used to buy clothes, make-up, headphones, earbuds, new hairstyles, and vehicle customization. If you need space to store your vehicles, you can purchase garages. You can register a stolen vehicle as a personal one by paying a fee, though it will take time to register a high-end stolen vehicle.
However, additional safehouses cannot be bought. In the main story, Jason and Lucia are on the run, so it wouldn't make sense.
Looks like Rockstar is making heists and money more dynamic - and we'll likely see more features once GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026.
