The Switch 2 is going to be Nintendo’s most powerful console to date, playing games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Street Fighter 6 at launch. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the folks at Xbox Game Studios have confirmed that they’re porting games to Nintendo’s new console. It will be interesting to see what comes, especially with big games coming to PS5.

Since this is going to be a fairly powerful console, we imagine that Xbox will be comfortable bringing over their games. Xbox had already brought indie titles like Cuphead and Ori to the original Switch, but those were 2D titles. This piece of hardware is capable of so much more, so Microsoft can unleash some of its stronger games.

Because this system is pretty powerful, we feel that these titles from Xbox Game Studios would be perfect on Switch 2. Even if Microsoft has accepted their place in the publisher pecking order, some of their games would be better suited on Nintendo’s hybrid system. Here’s what they are.

Hi-Fi Rush

We’ve seen rumors of Hi-Fi Rush coming to Switch and Switch 2 for many years now, so it only makes sense to bring it up again. Now that this colorful title is on PlayStation 5, we feel that a Switch 2 port is inevitable. The focus on a unique gameplay loop and anti-authority attitude is more SEGA than Nintendo, but this would still be great on Nintendo’s new system.

It’s been a few years, but the combination of rhythm and character-action elements have kept this fan-favorite fresh in our minds. This game also has beautiful cel-shaded visuals and some fun post-game content to shred through. Hopefully, a sequel is coming, especially now that Tango Gameworks has been saved.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle

Back in the N64 days, Nintendo had a pretty prominent relationship with Lucasarts. That system was home to exclusive Star Wars and Indiana Jones games. Now that we know what the Switch 2 is capable of, it makes sense to bring the newest Indiana Jones game over to Nintendo’s hybrid console.

Much like DOOM 2016 and Wolfenstein 2, it will be interesting to see how Bethesda ports these games to a handheld. The Switch 2’s power will make porting this powerhouse game easier. Plus, it just feels right having Indy in a Nintendo system again, after missing out on the previous generation.

Battletoads (2020)

It didn’t receive a lot of love back then, but the Battletoads remake from 2020 is a decent game. This game does have pacing issues and tries too hard to be funny, but punching fools as three unique toads is still decent. We imagine that fans who miss the older games in the series will give this a shot on Switch 2.

The original Switch was great for games with couch co-op, so we imagine that Switch 2 will be just as good. A new port of Battletoads 2020 can even come with GameChat, if Nintendo wants it. Since the company did do that Paul Rudd commercial, adding a reboot of this classic SNES series seems appropriate.

Oblivion Remastered

Skyrim had it’s time on the original Switch, so why not Oblivion Remastered on Switch 2? We know the console won’t be hurting for RPGs, but having a massively powerful one from Xbox would showcase its power. They could even add motion controls like in the Skyrim Switch port, making it unique compared to other versions.

We imagine this port will be compromised, since even the Steam Deck is having issues with the port. Still, if Nintendo and Xbox can downgrade this title without making any major sacrifices, this game will be perfect to have on Switch 2’s handheld mode. At the least, it could run better than the Steam Deck version.

Those four Xbox games would be perfect on Switch 2. Microsoft could be three steps ahead of us and plan Gears of War on the system, but we don’t think that’s a very Nintendo-like game. We do like being surprised, so here’s hoping Xbox has something up its sleeve.
