Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is finally out, and while it’s been heavily criticized for its abysmal performance on PC, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a standout new soulslike title that captures the essence of the genre well.

As players explore the branching pathways and tricky corners of the dark fantasy world of Shu, they’ll come across hidden secrets, including a mysterious panda who sells one of the game’s best items.

What does the Panda do in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers?

The Panda is an NPC who sells some of the best items in the game. His inventory includes a damage-mitigating Spell, a Spear with a steampunk vibe, and some rare resources not commonly found in the world of Shu.

The world of Wuchang is rife with secrets.

To buy items from the Panda, you’ll need Bamboo Shoots. These rare resources are dropped by elusive creatures called Bamboozlings. When you spot a running Bamboozling, strike it, and you’ll receive one Bamboo Shoot per hunt. There are about 20 Bamboozlings hidden throughout the game.

Giant Panda Locations

The Giant Panda isn’t rooted to a single spot. He’s a traveling NPC who moves to different locations as you progress through the story. He doesn’t appear on the Fast Travel map, so you’ll need to track him down the old-fashioned way.

  • First Location: Worship’s RiseYour first encounter with the Panda happens as you journey toward Shu Sanctum. He’s found in a hidden cave at the edge of Shu Sanctum, shortly after your first encounter with Nian Suichang. Look for a cave where you’ll find both the Storyteller NPC and the Panda deeper inside.
  • Second Location: Snowfall PalaceYou’ll meet the Panda again during your time in the Snowfall Palace. He’s tucked away in a secret area located in the top room. Step onto a circular plate in the center of the dining area to activate a hidden elevator that leads to a treasure room. The Panda is hanging out there on the sidelines.
  • Third Location: AnnalumAfter progressing through the story and speaking with the Storyteller NPC, you’ll be taken to a nighttime version of Worship’s Rise, now engulfed in flames. NPCs and storylines move forward at this point. You’ll find the Panda standing near a cliff, shortly after the first Shrine in Annalum.

  • Fourth Location: Bo CapitalThe final and possibly last encounter with the Giant Panda is in the Bo Capital, the game’s final area. He’s found near a shortcut just before the final boss.

We will update this guide once we find more Panda locations. Keep in mind that the Giant Panda always trades using Bamboo Shoots, and his stock will expand after every major story beat. Bamboo Shoots do not respawn in a single playthrough, but they will reappear in New Game Plus.
