This article contains SPOILERS for Resident Evil Requiem

In Resident Evil Requiem, the Moon, Sun, and Star door is the primary goal of Grace’s first chapter inside the Rhodes Hill Care Center.

You’ll encounter this locked door early in the Central Hall, but opening it is not a quick task. It becomes the driving force of the opening act, as you must obtain the Moon, Sun, and Star Quartz from areas blocked by puzzles and progression locks.

While the door itself looks simple, unlocking it requires several hours of exploration, careful item management, and completing multiple overlapping puzzle chains.

Here’s a complete breakdown of how to obtain all three Quartz pieces and finally escape into the Courtyard.

How to Get the Moon Quartz

The Moon Quartz is usually the first of the three gems you’ll obtain, and it’s found inside the Chairman’s Office on the second floor of the West Wing.

After unlocking access to the West Wing with the appropriate keycard, push through the Kitchen area (either slipping past or distracting the Zombie Chef) and make your way upstairs.

Inside the Chairman’s Office, you’ll spot a locked puzzle box along with the materials needed to uncover its solution.

Pick up the Pencil from the desk area, then use it on the notebook with the torn page resting on the coffee table in the seating section of the room.

Rubbing over the page exposes the symbol order need. You can place it into the corresponding slot on the Central Hall door right away, but the exit won’t unlock until you’ve collected the remaining two Quartz pieces.

How to Get the Sun Quartz

The Sun Quartz takes more effort to obtain and requires several steps throughout the East Wing.

To start, secure the East Wing Keycard, earned by progressing through the Unicorn Door route and pushing deeper into the Care Center.

Once you can access the East Wing, head upstairs to the Lead Researcher’s Office, where you’ll find another puzzle box. Unlike the first one, this box is sealed with a padlock.

A note nearby mentions that the key is gone and hints that Corrosive from the Conference Room can be used to melt the lock instead.

To retrieve the Corrosive, continue exploring the upper floor. You’ll come across a corpse holding a Level 1 Security wristband, but picking it up causes a large roaming enemy to begin patrolling the area. It’s best to lure or evade this creature to clear a safer route before proceeding.

From there, make your way to the Conference Room. The room can be chaotic, with multiple zombies inside, so either eliminate them if you’re prepared or push through quickly to the back storage area where the Corrosive is located.

After obtaining it, head back to the Lead Researcher’s Office and apply the Corrosive to melt the padlock on the puzzle box.

With the box unlocked, examine the photographs scattered around the office. Each image reveals portions of the puzzle box symbols from different angles, and by mentally piecing them together, you can determine the correct order. The solution is Star – Sun – Moon – Sun.

Entering this sequence opens the box and grants you the Sun Quartz, along with a Leatherbound Notebook that contains clues for a later puzzle. With this, you’ll have two of the three Quartz gems needed to unlock the Central Hall door.

How to Get the Star Quartz

The Star Quartz is by far the most involved of the three and requires completing a lengthy chain of objectives before you can finally claim it.

To begin, you’ll need Level 1 access, which allows you to enter the Custodian’s Office near the West Wing and pick up the Wrench. With the wrench in hand, you can access Cold Storage and collect the Artificial Heart.

Around the same time, you should retrieve the Organ Transport Box from the Garage and use the code found earlier in the Leatherbound Notebook to unlock it, granting you the Artificial Lungs.

With both artificial organs collected, return to the Examination Room in the East Wing, where the organless body lies on the table.

Insert the Artificial Heart and Artificial Lungs into the corpse, which immediately reanimates; defeat it to obtain the Level 2 Security wristband.

Using Level 2 access, open the gate leading toward the Isolation Ward and proceed into the Security Manager’s Office.

Inside, you’ll find the Level 3 Wristband along with a journal that lists the Star puzzle box solution as Star – Star – Moon – Sun.

Unfortunately, the box itself complicates things, since the symbols are no longer visible and have been replaced with braille that Grace cannot read.

To solve this, return to the Medication Room and use the Level 3 wristband to free Emily, who can interpret braille.

You must then escort or carry her back to the Security Manager’s Office, which limits your mobility and makes enemy encounters more dangerous, so clearing the route beforehand is highly recommended.

Once there, Emily reads the braille and opens the puzzle box, revealing the Star Quartz. This moment triggers a major story sequence that temporarily removes the gem from your possession, but after completing the ensuing basement section and character transition, you will eventually regain the Star Quartz and be able to use it to unlock the Central Hall door.

Once you’ve collected the Moon Quartz, Sun Quartz, and Star Quartz, return to the locked door in the Central Hall and place each gem into its matching slot.

After securing the three Quartz, the device activates and unlocks the door, giving you access to the Courtyard and wrapping up the Care Center section.

Before stepping through, however, it’s wise to take a moment and double-check the facility. The game doesn’t clearly signal it as a point of no return, but progressing beyond this door begins shifting you out of the Care Center section.

Make sure you’ve gathered any missed supplies, picked up collectibles such as hidden figurines or antique coins, and explored previously locked rooms that are now accessible with your upgraded security access.

Once you move forward, returning to wrap up unfinished tasks may no longer be possible.
