It looks like gamers in the US will have to wait longer before they can pre-order the Switch 2, and they might even pay more for the new system. Apparently, Nintendo is going to evaluate the “potential impact of tariffs” and see what happens to market conditions in the near future. While the release date hasn’t changed, gamers in the US need to be a bit more patient.

This comes from a GameSpot report, which claimed that the tariff situation implemented by the current Trump administration is why these pre-orders are getting delayed. Although the price could remain $450 for the base model, it looks like there could be additional payments due to these laws. Only time will tell if these are going to be significant price changes, but that seems pretty likely, given how expensive this system is.

Nintendo fans hoping to get the Switch 2 early must be disappointed by the news, given how exciting the console is. Based on everything we’ve seen thus far, it looks like this handheld system could match other handheld PCs in power, maybe even beat them. With powerhouse games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy VII Remake, this system is Nintendo’s strongest in a while.

Making these prices worse is how expensive some of the games already are. Fans were shocked to see how games like Mario Kart World are priced at $80, the highest of this generation to date. Gamers had a feeling that GTA 6 would be $100 at launch and it looks like Nintendo has given them the chance to do this.
