Mario Kart World is officially coming to Switch 2. The game was technically revealed when this system was first shown off, but the company decided to officially showcase this game during the Direct’s opening.
After 7 and 8, it’s surprising to see this new entry in the Mario Kart series ditch numbers again. Still, with beautiful graphics and some new characters joining the fray, it looks like this is going to be a stellar entry. Pretty much every game in the Mario Kart series is acclaimed, but fans will have an extra good time with this new entry.
The “World” in Mario Kart World isn’t just there for fun, as tracks are based on locations around the world. You can also see these tracks visually change through a day and night cycle, making this title stand out in ways it didn’t before. Fans can also just have fun driving wherever they want in a brand new Free Mode, which should be great for relaxing before the next race.
It’s clear that this new entry is taking inspiration from both Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the mobile title Mario Kart Tour. Seeing it take inspiration from Forza of all things, is pretty shocking, as these games often do their own thing and inspire other races. Still, these are very cool features and fans will be going crazy for them.
Mario Kart World will be a launch title for the Switch 2 and is set to launch on the same day as this highly-anticipated console.
