The GTA 6 Leaks Aren’t Impressive, and That Is Completely Fine

The new GTA 6 leaks left me unimpressed, but I won't be losing any sleep over them.

Just like everyone else, I was immediately intrigued when notifications popped up on my phone showing the latest set of GTA 6 leaks - so much so that I even broke my "no Twitter unless work needs it" rule.

I was met with several clips (some already taken down by Take-Two) of Jason Duval playing basketball and another featuring a supposed six-star wanted level.

While the internet was going crazy, I wasn't overly impressed. Despite my initial reaction, however, you can guarantee that the GTA 6 we get in November will be better than what we've seen online, and although I've been left underwhelmed, there's simply no reason to panic.

The GTA 6 Leaks Are Nothing Worth Fawning Over

As I scrolled through leaks - some that seemed legit and others that appeared AI-generated - my excitement shifted to confusion. The clips I saw weren't anything groundbreaking. It felt lackluster. I was left thinking, "Okay... So what if Jason can play basketball?"

I'm not in support of gameplay footage being leaked, quite the opposite, but considering how long GTA 6 has been in the works, I suppose I had expected more from what was shown. I saw nothing that piqued my interest. Nothing on how shifting between Jason and Lucia would work, nothing about the heists, and nothing about the other characters we'll encounter in Vice City. The clips seemed pretty standard for GTA, and the addition of a Focus and Stamina Bar is nothing to write home about.

Luckily, it's been revealed by insider Nate the Hate that the leaks are a few years old (likely from 2023). If true, then you can bet your bottom dollar that the release version of GTA 6 will be vastly different from what's making the rounds on social media. After all, games that are in the middle of development aren't meant to look pretty - they're used to test various gameplay features and mechanics.

I'm still optimistic about the game, even if the leaks didn't impress me, and I have confidence that Rockstar will deliver something that sets a whole new industry standard.

I wouldn't put too much weight on these leaks. Instead, it's better to wait for the full, polished version of GTA 6, and I'm sure the Extended Look on Netflix will blow our minds.
