Ninja Gaiden 2 Black: How To Complete Chapter 5

Chapter 5 of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black changes things up by putting you in Momiji's shoes instead of Ryu's.

Unlike Ryu, she doesn't have multiple weapons to swap between, meaning you'll need to make the most of what she has.

This chapter's on the shorter side, taking about 15 to 20 minutes, but the fights get tough toward the end.

This article has all the details you need to clear Chapter 5, from enemies to bosses and everything in between.

How To Complete Chapter 5

The second you're in, head right for the bridge.

Enemies show up fast, so don't let your guard down.

Since Momiji's Naginata excels at sweeping attacks, use her wide swings to handle multiple enemies at once.

Once they're down, head for the staircase on the right.

But before you go up, open the chest at the end of the bridge for some Grains of Spiritual Life—a healing item you'll want to keep on hand.

A flame archer is hanging out at the top of the stairs, so be ready for some long-range attacks.

Use your bow to take them down from a distance and avoid unnecessary damage.

Once the archer's down, the door behind them unlocks, letting you move forward.

Head forward into an open space overlooking the city, but don't expect the peace to last.

A new wave of enemies, including flame archers and teleporting ninjas, will keep the fight going.

These enemies are tricky, so keep moving and use Momiji's double jump to avoid getting pinned down.

After clearing out the enemies, you'll face the Blue Black Spider Tengu, a mid-boss fight that doesn't last long.

Unlike regular enemies, this enemy has unique attack patterns.

His high jumps make him difficult to hit, so it's best to dodge and reposition when he starts to leap.

When he starts spinning with a tornado around him, that's your sign to back off or take some serious damage.

However, you won't have to fight him to the bitter end—just do enough damage, and the fight will be cut short so you can keep going.

Now that the Tengu is gone, head through the open gate on the right.

If you walk forward a little, you will see a chest on the left with a Herb of Spiritual Life to help heal.

You'll come across a blue dragon save statue pretty soon, so go ahead and save it.

As soon as you enter the next building, an enemy attacks, so don't lower your guard.

After handling them, head to the opposite side of the room to grab a chest near the sewer drain. Inside, there's another Herb of Spiritual Life waiting for you.

Moving ahead, you'll enter a familiar location, but turn right before the main bridge to find a hidden chest.

Inside, you'll find Grains of Spiritual Life, which could come in clutch for the final battle.

Next, you'll hit the big red bridge, where another fight awaits. Take care of the enemies here, then swing by Muramasa's shop near the bridge.

This is the last chance to restock consumables, so if you're low on healing items, now is the time to buy more.

Cross the bridge and watch for a chest on the stone path before the final area.

A Devil's Way Mushroom here will top off your Ninpo, so don't miss it.

When you're done, return to the main path near the merchant and walk down the candle-lit hallway.

As expected, more ninjas pop up, pulling you into another scrap. Keep going to hit the last dragon statue save point before the final fight.

The last battle with the Black Spider Tengu brothers, Red and Blue, is one of the trickiest in this chapter.

Last time, it was just a brief fight with the Blue Tengu, but now you're up against both the Red and Blue versions, making this battle much more chaotic.

The best strategy is to focus on one enemy at a time, as splitting your attacks between both will make it difficult to gain momentum.

The Red Tengu is the more aggressive, so deal with him first. The Blue Tengu's more of a distance threat, so keep your eyes on him, too.

With Momiji's Ninpo, you can take out both enemies simultaneously with heavy damage.

However, it's best to save your Ki for the right moment, ideally when both Tengu are close together, so it hits harder.

Dodging and repositioning are just as important as attacking. Being cornered by both Tengu at once can lead to a quick game-over.

The real danger is their jumps and tornado spins, so when they start lifting off, just back off and reposition yourself.

Blocking might work sometimes, but it's not foolproof—some of their hits can still break through.

Dodge quickly and hit back when you get the chance. You should have enough healing items, so go ahead and use them when needed.

There's no penalty, and survival comes first. Once you bring down a Tengu, the rest of the battle is much smoother.

Now that only one is left, you can go for it and finish the fight. This fight is all about patience and survival.

Rather than rushing in, play cautiously, land safe hits, and use every opportunity to deal damage while avoiding unnecessary risks.

Keep your head in the game, make the most of what you have, and time your hits, and you'll win eventually.

Once the Black Spider Tengu brothers are out, Chapter 5 finishes, and you're all set to jump back into Ryu's role in Chapter 6.
