The Lord of the Seas, Lagiacrus, is Finally Here in Monster Hunter World’s long-awaited Title Update 2
The return of the Thunder Leviathan is a special moment for veteran hunters who first encountered it in Monster Hunter Tri. For new players, Lagiacrus presents a uniquely thrilling challenge with its powerful thunder-based attacks and underwater combat mechanics.
Here’s everything you need to know about Title Update 2’s Lagiacrus, its armor sets, and weapons.
How to Beat Lagiacrus
Lagiacrus isn’t the toughest monster in the game, but it becomes significantly more dangerous when it enters its supercharged state.
Series veterans with optimized builds shouldn’t have too much trouble, but caution is still necessary. This updated version of Lagiacrus features attack patterns borrowed from its other variants, making it less predictable.
The real challenge begins underwater, where the fight turns into a high-stakes survival scenario. In its natural habitat, Lagiacrus rules the tides. Mastering underwater mechanics becomes crucial here. While your movement is more restricted, you can use your claw to get close and follow up with powerful attacks, similar to a Mounted Attack.
Make sure to prevent Lagiacrus from fully charging, it delivers devastating thunder strikes that can wipe out your HP and send you straight to a cart.
Use the environment to your advantage. Dropping rock formations on it can deal significant damage and briefly immobilize the beast, so stay alert for interactable terrain during the fight.
What are Lagiacrus Weapon Skills?
Lagiacrus returns with a full arsenal, one weapon for each of the game’s 14 weapon types. Some will look familiar to long-time players, while others are newly designed to reflect this updated version of the monster.
A standout among its weapon tree is the skill “Convert Thunder Resistance”, which boosts thunder-based damage based on your current Thunder Resistance.
It’s an excellent skill for lightning-based builds and becomes especially deadly against monsters weak to Thunder.
What are Lagiacrus Armor Skills?
Lagiacrus armor excels in builds that prioritize thunder damage and stamina efficiency. With high Thunder Resistance and synergy with the “Convert Thunder Resistance” weapon skill, it’s a strong pick for elemental loadouts.
Key armor skills include Weakness Exploit and Stamina Surge, both ideal for stamina-heavy weapons like Dual Blades and Bows.
For close-range specialists, Latent Power and Maximum Might offer solid DPS boosts, but they come at the cost of needing to stay aggressive and take some risks.
The Lagiacrus Alpha Armor includes all key skills but comes with fewer gem slots. On the other hand, the Beta Armor offers more gem slots at the expense of some built-in skills, giving players flexibility depending on their build preferences.
