Good news for Monster Hunter Wilds players—Director Yuya Tokuda has announced that even more content is coming beyond Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, and the Gathering Hall. The blog post follows the game’s recent milestone of 10 million copies sold, a testament to its roaring success.
Layered Weapons have been a long-requested feature, especially as the game moves past its honeymoon phase. With Artian Weapons dominating the meta shift, many hunters have felt compelled to craft them despite their high-tech designs clashing with endgame fashion builds. Let’s be honest—it’s hard to rock a primal hunter aesthetic when your weapon looks like it came straight out of Xenoblade, with its green hue and metallic plating.
However, don’t expect Layered Weapons to arrive anytime soon. Capcom and the Wilds team are currently focused on Title Update 1 and the highly anticipated arrival of Lagiacrus.
The worst-case scenario? This feature gets pushed to Title Update 3. But many fans (myself included) remain optimistic that it will land in Title Update 2.
Optimization is also a key focus moving forward. Tokuda acknowledged that the Steam release isn’t quite up to par with its console counterparts due to various performance issues. One of the earliest improvements that Capcom plans to roll out is reducing VRAM usage, which could significantly boost performance when Title Update 1 drops. Additional optimizations should arrive soon after.
Meanwhile, difficulty adjustments are on the way, a response to veteran Monster Hunter fans who feel the game has been too easy. Capcom plans to crank up the chaos by introducing more 8-star quests, which will push both new and old hunters to their limits. It may not be Fatalis-level difficulty just yet, but it’s a solid step toward challenging players who crave a real test.
In future updates, more monsters will receive 8-star rankings alongside their Tempered versions, featuring improved multiplayer scaling, increased health, and more aggressive movesets. Even a Chatacabra could feel terrifying if Capcom fine-tunes it right.
Monster Hunter Wilds is shaping up to be Capcom’s biggest game yet, and it’s clear they’re committed to keeping the content flowing based on fan feedback. With its consumer-friendly live-service model, Wilds is a money-making machine for the company, and the journey has only just begun. Title Update 1 drops on April 4, and there’s plenty more to come.
Capcom has also hinted at additional updates, including refinements to gameplay flow, the in-game economy, overall balance tweaks, and even a house to store Endemic Life in the future. If they do this right, we might see an upsurge in the game’s sales in the coming months—potentially breaking a new record for the company.
The hunt is far from over.
