Marvel Tokon’s chaotic, unhinged assist system makes breaking the meta look just as fun as kills.

  • Quick Answer: Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls features a dynamic assist system that lets tag-team partners cross paths and cover blind spots for highly creative, high-energy combos.

It's been just under a week since Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls came out, and I've held back from purchasing the game to wait for video playthroughs and reviews.

I was unsure if it would be a title that would match my tastes, but when my feed was filled with non-stop Marvel Tokon combo clips, I was intrigued. The community has eaten up the launch of the game, and now I'm yearning to click purchase and get it downloaded.

There are plenty of reasons why I'm so eager to jump in, and one of them is something you might not expect - the dynamic assist system!

Marvel Tokon's Assist System Looks Just as Fun as Getting Kills

Traditional tag-team fighting games can often feel mechanical, and getting assists feels just like combo extenders. So imagine my surprise when I discovered this wasn't the same in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.

The dynamic assist system isn't just a minor thing in Marvel Tokon - it's an unhinged canvas for creative destruction. I've seen plenty of clips of characters crossing paths and covering each other's blind spots to cause chaos on the map, and I am excited to experience it myself.

I worry that a balancing patch update will swoop in and kill the fun before I even secure my copy. There are plenty of fighting games where the interactions feel predictable - I love that Marvel Tokon doesn't seem like that, at least for now, and I hope it doesn't change.

Give me the chaotic, high-energy sandbox where pairing unexpected heroes results in broken and powerful units, thank you very much!

The minute I get the game, the first thing I’m doing is taking the weirdest, most obscure characters into training mode to see how their assists break the standard meta. If the developers keep their hands off the patch notes and let the community break the game a little bit, then I think I can keep coming back for the assists system alone.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a shopping cart to check out on Steam.
