  • Quick Answer: Marvel Tokon's PC version suffers from significant performance problems, making the pirated version a smoother experience for players.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls PC launch has been nothing short of a disaster. To add insult to injury, it’s been discovered that the cracked version of the game runs much more smoothly than the official one available on digital storefronts like Steam or the Epic Games Store.

As expected, the digital rights management (DRM) and anti-cheat tools are bogging down the performance of the PC version of Tokon, causing the game to lag even on rigs that should run it with absolutely no issues.

I don’t condone piracy, naturally, but users have shared that using the pirated version of the game lets them run it smoothly on PC specs that wouldn’t be able to handle the official release with all the background apps required.

An X user shared that the cracked version, by virtue of removing all the anti-cheat fluff, it ran the game "10x better" than the official release, with only 45% of CPU usage.

The Tokon system requirements are rather steep for any rig, which is particularly egregious considering we’re talking about a fighting game that requires less than 30GB of storage to be installed.

Arc System Works is hard at work trying to fix issues. Sadly, as much as the studio is willing to course-correct, an awful launch has severely hampered Tokon’s chances of becoming a staple of the fighting game community.

The fact that the issue is clear as day—Sony’s excessive tampering gives me no hope that the developer can fix it on its own until it fully addresses the unnecessary DRM, anti-cheat, and even obligatory PSN background apps that essentially kill the game’s performance.

Of course, with the pirated version you won’t be able to play online. That being said, those using the cracked version will likely resort to tools such as Parsec to play online. The Steam Charts numbers are looking, quite frankly, dire, and if ArcSys doesn’t figure out a solution fast, maybe the comparisons some users drew with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite weren’t so wild after all.
