The next batch of new playable characters for Marvel Rivals may be dropping in Season 2, but for now, NetEase Games has been giving fans a steady stream of special skins for existing characters.

After the costume reveals for Cloak & Dagger and Venom, there will be some Asgardian-themed cosmetics with Loki and Storm over the weekend.

Presidential Attire and Goddess of Thunder

Per the official announcement, Loki will get a Presidential Attire skin, and Storm will get a Goddess of Thunder appearance from the comics. Check out the post:

Though some fans think this would be a random pairing for the game, Loki and Storm have a history in the comics—specifically in the storyline where she becomes the Goddess of Thunder.

Loki apparently manipulates Storm into becoming his queen, and she’s granted an enchanted hammer that helps channel her powers. It’s not necessarily Mjolnir, but Storm eventually wields that weapon in Marvel’s animated What If…? series.

It’s also worth noting that these cosmetics were available during the beta. Their arrival in the store means other cosmetics introduced during development could also return.

While the costume is not a 1:1 remake of the outfit from the comics, it retains many of its signature components, like the winged helmet and the blue cape.

The shape of the hammer is also accurate to the one Storm wields in the comics—but as far as gameplay goes, it looks like the hammer only appears in the MVP highlight and emote; she casts her attacks like usual in-game.

As for Loki

Many fans know President Loki from his brief appearance in the Loki series on Disney+, but he’s actually based on a 2016 comic called Vote Loki, which was considered a sarcastic commentary on the US electoral process.

Even the caption of ‘Make Things Sane Again’ harkens to a popular slogan from a certain world leader.

Season 1 is expected to end this April, and a lot of fans are already wondering what to expect with Season 2 of Marvel Rivals.

There is a rumor that S2 will mark the arrival of more mutants. A map is said to have been found that is supposed to represent the X-Mansion, complete with the Danger Room.

Then again, there have already been leaks for characters like Blade and Ultron, so it’s possible that NetEase would want them to come to the game already, seeing that fans know so much about them. If anything, it does feel like the Fantastic Four were shoehorned into the first season because how else can the game hold a Dracula event and not have Blade be one of the central characters in the narrative?

Until NetEase reveals more, fans will have to wait, but hopefully, something official will be announced in the next few weeks.

Goddess of Thunder Storm and Presidential Attire Loki come to Marvel Rivals on March 14. The game is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
