Bungie has released the initial Marathon Season 1 roadmap that should help players get an idea of what they can expect when the extraction shooter launches this March 5.
Extraction shooters live and die based on the cadence that content developers have set in stone for the community. Bungie has accumulated over a decade of experience with live-service games thanks to the Destiny franchise, so fans of the looter shooter are aware that the studio can be hit or miss when it comes to delivering the goods.
In any case. This is what you can expect from Marathon Season 1.
Marathon Season 1 Roadmap
In short, the Marathon Season 1 roadmap includes the following:

- Global Launch / Season 1 Start: March 5, 2026
- Outpost Zone Unlock: March 6, 2026. Requires Runner Level 12
- Ranked Mode Launch: Late March 2026. "Second Half of March"
- Cryo Archive (End-Game): Mid-to-Late March. Community-Locked Goal.
- Season 1 End: June 2026.
Outpost Zone
Following the launch of Marathon, which will feature six runners and 28 weapons, a new zone will be unlocked: Outpost. It's a more demanding area that will be unlocked a day after launch on March 6, with players required to be Runner level 12.
Ranked Mode
There are no specifics regarding how Marathon ranked works. Bungie has confirmed it will be arriving at some point during March, with players able to secure very powerful loot for climbing the competitive ladder.
Cryo Archive
The Cryo Archive seems to be a raid-like, highly difficult mode Marathon will get during season 1. It will be the game's fourth zone, promising the hardest challenge only for those that manage to conquer Tau Ceti.
Players will explore the Marathon ship and solve puzzles similar to Destiny 2 raids. More information will be shared later this month.
When Does Marathon Season 1 End?
According to Bungie, Marathon Season 1 is set to end in June, with Season 2: Nightfall kicking off that same month.
