How To Get A Map In Hollow Knight: Silksong?
While I’m still early in the game, you can obtain the first two maps (Bone Bottom/Moss Grotto and The Marrow) by purchasing them from a vendor called Shakra.
They’re relatively easy to spot as it’s very early into the game. My big recommendation is that you save Rosaries, as you’ll need to spend a few of these.
You can find Shakra in The Marrow, so you’ll need to defeat the Moss Mother boss, the first one in the game. So, again, you really can’t miss Shakra. Here are the prices for the maps:
- Mosslands: 40 Rosaries
- The Marrow: 50 Rosaries
Purchasing the maps will allow you to quickly glance at them by holding the L button (or the equivalent, depending on your platform of choice) or, alternatively, opening the menu and going to the map section, where you’ll see a more detailed look.
How To Get & Use A Quill In Silksong?
Now, the map in and of itself is somewhat useful, but you’ll really want to invest in getting the Quill. With this nifty tool, you’ll be able to fully flesh out your map, making it easier to see what sections you haven’t explored. The way it works is simple: explore new areas and hit a rest stop, then Hornet will map out all the new areas you’ve discovered.
Take a look at the screenshot below, you’ll notice a big difference in what the map looks like with and without the Quill.
It costs 50 Rosaries, but I’d say it’s definitely a good investment. Additionally, you can obtain a compass for 70 Rosaries, which will indicate your exact location. A major drawback is that it occupies a slot in your inventory, so use it wisely.
