Monster Hunter Wilds is officially going back to its roots with Title Update 2’s increased challenge. With Seregios and Lagiacrus running loose and carting players left and right, hunters are struggling to get the precious materials needed to craft new weapons and armor.

To make matters worse, the grind has gotten even tougher, with significantly lower drop rates for Steve and Lagiacrus Gems.

What Drop Rate Changes Are in Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2?

Drop rates for the rarest monster parts, especially Gems, have been significantly reduced to make grinding feel more like the older Monster Hunter titles.

This is especially true for Seregios and Lagiacrus, whose Gems are now much harder to obtain compared to the rest of the roster.

Lagiacrus Sapphire Drop Rate is lower.

It’s clear that Capcom has been listening to fan feedback for some time, and this update feels like the first real step toward bringing more challenge and grind back to Monster Hunter Wilds. The new drop rates now closely resemble those of the classic games.

What Are the New Drop Rate Percentages in Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2?

Normally, players could expect a 6 to 7% Gem drop rate from carving a monster’s tail, and around 3% from quest rewards or standard carves. This rate applies to monsters from the game’s original roster, like Chatacabra and Mizutsune.

Now, for newer monsters like Seregios and Lagiacrus, the numbers have been slashed. Completing a hunt gives only a 1% chance of obtaining a Lagiacrus Sapphire or Seregios Dissenter, and just a 2% chance from carving.

It’s a big shift for Wilds, and it brings back the same kind of grind seen in earlier entries. Back in World, players often had to hunt monsters more than 50 times just to get the Gems or Orbs they needed.

Investigations That Guarantee Drops Are Also Risky

Investigations have been one of the best features in Wilds, letting players preview potential material drops before taking on the quest. But with Title Update 2, the odds of getting a guaranteed drop from Lagiacrus and Seregios investigations have been lowered.

Lagiacrus Quest is harder and less chances of a Gem drop.

And even if players do find one, they’ll need to survive the ramped-up difficulty of these hunts; failing or abandoning means forfeiting the rewards.

Monster Hunter Wilds is definitely returning to its challenging roots, but the question now is whether Capcom can maintain this momentum. Player counts have been steadily dropping, and Title Update 3 is still months away. For now, though, this return to a heavier grind might be just enough to keep longtime fans satisfied.
