The GTA 6 Extended Look gave us an incredible deep dive into Jason and Lucia's story, as well as the scenery of Leonida. But will we be able to experience the massive map in 60 FPS?
Grand Theft Auto VI is Rockstar Games' most ambitious project yet, and its world is three times larger than Red Dead Redemption 2's. This begs the question: will consoles be able to handle the scale of GTA 6, and will players get to experience the magic at a smooth 60 frames per second?
Here's what Rockstar has said following the extended look, including FPS targets for consoles at launch.
Will GTA 6 Run at 30 FPS or 60 FPS at Launch?
GTA 6 is unlikely to run at 60 FPS on consoles at launch, with 30 FPS currently the direction of travel.

YouTuber Davy Jones was reportedly told by Rockstar Games co-head Rob Nelson that GTA 6 will run at 30 FPS on consoles at launch. Davy Jones is notably one of the content creators who visited Rockstar North to get a closer look at the game.
Additionally, Brazilian outlet Flow Games also reported that the game will launch at 30 FPS. The report stated, "Rob Nelson, lead developer and co-director at Rockstar North, claims that the game is being developed at 30 frames per second on the consoles."
However, this doesn't mean that the performance range won't change in later patches.
Nelson reportedly stated that Rockstar will need to consult their technical team to determine if there will be a 60 FPS performance mode at launch or later down the line. Currently, Nelson doesn't have details on resolution and other technicalities, such as the use of Ray Tracing. All he (and we) know is that the game currently runs at 30 FPS.
Will GTA 6 Run at 60 FPS on the PS5 Pro?
Based on Nelson's quotes, it's currently unknown if GTA 6 will target 60 FPS or feature a Performance Mode on the PS5 Pro.

Considering just how large and populated the world of Leonida is, it would be surprising if Rockstar Games managed to launch a 60 FPS mode, even on the PS5 Pro. It's more realistic to assume they could target a 40 FPS mode, but that is unconfirmed.
