Street Fighter 6 on the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch with two different versions, according to the game’s official listing on the Nintendo Switch eShop. In the overview menu of Street Fighter 6, fans can “choose from Street Fighter 6: Year 1–2 Fighter Edition or the digital version of Street Fighter 6 for Nintendo Switch 2.”
While this detail might be easy to miss, it carries major implications, especially for players deciding between buying the game digitally or physically. Here’s the breakdown: the Nintendo Switch 2 physical copy of Street Fighter 6 is the only version that includes the Year 1–2 Fighters Edition, while the digital version will be the base game only. Players who want additional characters can unlock them through the DLC section of the eShop or purchase the Year 1-2 Fighters Edition separately, gaining access to fighters like Mai and the upcoming Elena.
So, players purchasing the physical edition are essentially paying for the base game plus DLC.
The good news? The digital version will likely be cheaper since it doesn’t include the Year 1–2 Fighters Pass. If Capcom’s pricing model on other platforms like the PlayStation 5 is any indication, the base digital version could land around $40 to $50. At the same time, the physical edition might go for $70, which is now standard for most modern releases.
This move by Capcom clearly caters to both collectors and new fans. Collectors can enjoy a premium physical copy with all the extras, while newcomers can jump in digitally at a lower price and access the entire roster over time.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5, and Street Fighter 6 will be one of many titles available on day one. Fans already report that it may even run better than the PlayStation 5 version.
