Fable Is Reportedly Day-One on PS5, While Forza Horizon 6 Couldn’t Make It

At its core, the rumor says Fable is being lined up for a same-day PS5 release with Xbox and PC, but Forza Horizon 6 could come later on PS5 because the PlayStation build is still behind.

Andy Robinson noted on the VGC podcast that insiders believe Fable has been planned for PS5 for some time, which is why talk of a simultaneous release has come up.

At the same time, he flags that “day and date” plans are the kind of thing that can change extremely late in development, meaning it’s not the sort of detail anyone should treat as locked until Microsoft or Playground confirms it publicly.

Still, the implication is that Fable’s PlayStation version isn’t a last-minute port, but something that’s been in the pipeline long enough to potentially ship alongside the Xbox/PC versions, which would also line up with Microsoft’s newer approach of treating big first-party games as multiplatform releases whenever it makes business sense.

Why Isn’t Forza Horizon 6 Launching Day One on PS5?

Things get more interesting with Forza Horizon 6, as the rumors imply it’s less about strategy and more about what’s realistically possible.

The explanation being passed around is blunt and it’s that the PS5 version “just wasn’t ready.”

That doesn’t necessarily mean the port is cancelled or far off, because it comes across more like a timing issue while the studio balances certification, QA, online systems, and launch stability across platforms.

Basically, releasing a modern Horizon game on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation on the same day is a massive technical and logistical job, so if one version (especially the PS5 port) isn’t ready, delaying that launch can be safer than delaying the entire game.
