It won’t be long before fans get their hands on Doom: The Dark Ages. This new installment in the legendary FPS series has high expectations after id Software killed it with their previous games. Considering how good the 2016 entry and Eternal were, we can see why fans are excited to enter the Dark Ages.
The Dark Ages was revealed last year and fans immediately entered the hype train for this returning shooter. Mixing the game’s meaty shooting with a more fantastical setting has many gamers excited about the insane scenarios they might find themselves in. More information about the game was shown during the 2025 Xbox Developer Direct, including its release date.
So, without further ado, here’s everything we know about Doom: The Dark Ages.
Release Date
A major leak revealed that Doom: The Dark Ages will be coming out on May 15, 2025. Not long after, the 2025 Xbox Developer Direct confirmed that this sequel would indeed come out on the leaked release. While the leak was unfortunate, at least fans know that this shooter has a definite release date.
May 15 is only a few months away, so fans can mark it on their calendars as they wait for even more information. The fact that this game was teased in 2024 and was then confirmed for a 2025 release is very impressive. Hopefully, the game will be of similar quality to the previous titles as we head towards its release date.
Platforms
When Doom: The Dark Ages was announced during an Xbox show, many fans were worried that it would be exclusive to Microsoft’s console. Luckily, Bethesda confirmed that The Dark Ages would also be coming out on PlayStation 5 and PC, alongside Xbox Series systems. Many fans are also hoping to see it on Nintendo Switch 2, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Seeing The Dark Ages come out on other systems isn’t too surprising since the previous Doom games were also multiplatform. The decision to only bring this title to current-gen systems makes sense, though it’s disappointing to those who only have a PS4 and Xbox One. At the least, this third game isn’t staying in one console.
