Want to know how to change seasons in Assassin's Creed Shadows? Believe it or not, doing so can have some unique gameplay implications.

The expansive feudal Japan crafted by Ubisoft in AC Shadows feels more like a living, breathing world than previous Assassin's Creed locales. Part of it is the dynamic weather system and seasons that add a bit of variety to the different locations you'll be able to visit as Naoe or Yasuke.

In AC Shadows, seasons change automatically. By completing a few prerequisites you'll have the ability to manually change them to suit your mood. Here's how to do it.

How To Change Seasons in AC Shadows

In order to manipulate the weather at will in AC Shadows, you'll need to go through the main story until you reach the quest An Unpayable Debt. Once you complete this mission you'll gain the ability to change seasons.

To change the weather, do the following:

  • Open the in-game menu.
  • Choose the "World" tab.
  • In the top right corner, hold "Change Season".

Do note that you won't be able to change seasons willy-nilly even if you have the option to. You'll only have the option to when the season progression bar is either half or completely full.

Seasons have major gameplay implications in AC Shadows. For instance, winter can be harder on Naoe as there's less foliage to hide in. Of course, changing seasons also refreshes things such as your Scouts, resources available, helps remove your wanted level, and enemy locations will be filled with more enemies too.

So there you have it, that's pretty much all you need to know about changing seasons in AC Shadows. For more content, check out our review of the game and why we think it's one of the best in the series and an easy contender for Game of the Year.
