  • Primary Subject: Grand Theft Auto VI (Extended Look Showcase)
  • Key Update: Ahead of the upcoming GTA 6: Extended Look premiere on Netflix, an opinion piece outlines eight crucial gameplay, narrative, and mechanic reveals Rockstar Games needs to clarify.
  • Status: Confirmed / Opinion
  • Last Verified: August 19, 2026
  • Quick Answer: The GTA 6: Extended Look showcase on Netflix needs to detail dual protagonist mechanics, car customization, AI police systems, and multiplayer features.

The GTA 6: Extended Look premieres in just a few days on August 27, and we still don't know what will be revealed.

Initially, the showcase will exclusively air on Netflix before it is shown on YouTube a few hours later. The Extended Look is described as offering fans an in-depth glance at what to expect in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto installment, but whether we'll get gameplay footage, a new trailer, or more remains unknown.

Here's what I'm hoping the Extended Look will touch on within its rumored 20-minute run-time.

1. Car Management Features

Cars have always been a major part of GTA (obviously - the name literally stands for Grand Theft Auto). In the Deluxe Edition and Vintage Vice City Pack, we've seen how we can give our rides a paint job and customize them in certain stores. The leaks have also revealed that vehicles will require fuel and maintenance to work.

I definitely want the Extended Look to give more details on this. What's the storage like in cars? How do we load up on fuel? What happens if we run out of gas mid-chase? I have many questions, and I hope they get answered.

2. Police Intelligence & ID System

Leaks have revealed that law enforcement will be able to identify your appearance and vehicle, meaning that if players obtain a getaway car or change clothes, it may be easier to evade the cops. GTA 6 will also reportedly feature a six-star wanted system, veering away from the usual five stars.

I'm curious as to why the stars have increased and just how advanced these AI cops will be. If I change clothes right in front of them, will they be confused, or will it register that I'm just trying to mix up my look to avoid capture? And why six stars instead of five - are crimes even more intense in Vice City this time around?

3. Dual Protagonist Mechanic

One of the most intriguing things about GTA 6 is the fact that there are two protagonists: Jason Duval and Lucia Camino. From the start, we've known that these two have a Bonnie-and-Clyde dynamic and that we'd have the ability to play as both characters.

However, we have yet to see how switching between them works. During quests, do we play as who is more important in the story? And when we roam around Leonida, do we have the freedom to pick who we want to control at any moment? I'm hoping the showcase gives us an in-depth look at how this would work.

4. Social Media

It was previously rumored that GTA 6 would feature in-game social media platforms and even have AI influencers. Leaker Tez2 revealed what these apps supposedly are, and they range from ride-hailing apps to dating sites. The names of these apps have been registered under Take-Two since 2025.

Rockstar Games hasn't confirmed that these are true, but I'm hoping that changes in the Extended Look. My hunch is that we'll get some info on how these in-game social media apps and influencers will work, and how it will affect our time in Vice City.

5. GTA 6 Online

We all know that GTA 6 Online will come eventually. It just won't come at launch, as Rockstar Games has stated that GTA 6 will initially be a single-player experience. So the question is, when can we expect GTA 6 Online?

I'm optimistic that the Extended Look will at least touch on GTA 6 Online and multiplayer functionality. After all, GTA Online is Rockstar's biggest cash cow - there's no way they'll neglect it.

6. Money Handling

Additional leaks allege that there will be two ways of storing money: some can be stored in safehouses, while more will be held by Jason and Lucia. However, this has left me with even more questions than I had before.

Is the money shared between Jason and Lucia? Or do they have their own stash? Or perhaps they are one of those couples with a joint stash AND their own money? Is there a withdrawal system? With the game revolving around crimes and heists, it's only logical that many curiosities surround money, and I hope Rockstar has the answers.

7. Wildlife & Environment

GTA 6 is set in Leonida, which is inspired by Florida. We've seen how Rockstar has taken inspiration from the state, featuring swamps, wildlife, and chaotic NPC behavior that's reminiscent of the Florida Man memes.

I'm curious as to how far they will go to mimic the feel of Miami. Will we really see alligators when we go to Grass Rivers? Will we scroll through our phones in-game and see hilarious news reports about Florida Man? It would be cool if so - it's added immersion.

8. Character Customization

And of course, the one thing on everyone's mind - how far can we go in terms of character customization? We know that some of the shops where we can change Lucia and Jason's look are locked behind the pre-order bonus and Ultimate Edition, but not much else is known about the stores that will be available to all players.

The fact that some customization options are locked behind the $100 edition doesn't entirely sit right with me, so it would be nice to find out a bit more about what's on offer to those who purchase the standard edition too.
