After Nintendo revealed its latest financial report, including a glimpse at the best-selling Switch 2 games as of June 30, 2026, a quick tidbit of information perked up the ears of Zelda fans everywhere: the plan is for the Ocarina of Time remake to be shipped before the end of the year, building anticipation for the upcoming live-action Zelda film releasing in 2027.
It’s good that we have such information come out from a financial report, as it solidifies Nintendo’s intention to put out one last banger before the end of the year. Between an OoT remake, Fortune’s Weave, and third-party exclusives like FromSoft’s The Duskbloods, if there’s one company that has enough tools in its arsenal to not be afraid of the looming shadow of Grand Theft Auto 6, is Nintendo.
That being said, it’s August already, there’s less than four months left in 2026, and we haven’t even seen a smidge of gameplay or even had a proper trailer beyond a few seconds of CGI goodness. My wild assumption is that fans will have to wait until Fortune’s Weave releases, as the company is all hands on deck with the marketing of the upcoming tactical RPG.
Once Fire Emblem is out of the way this September 17, I highly suspect we can see a Zelda Direct later that same month or around October. We could even see a teaser for the movie.
