GTA 6 may be Rockstar Games' hotly anticipated title right now, but I want to know where the GTA 4 Definitive Edition is. Rockstar Games has not officially announced this project, but it has been heavily rumored to be in development, based on various reports.

The GTA 4 remaster would be the perfect time filler to come out this year, tiding fans over until the release of GTA 6 in May next year. A new report from known data miner Tez2 states, "Someone at R* hinted at the IV port, and by now it should've gone up a year in development."

If Tez2's statement is correct, it suggests that we may see the GTA 4 Definitive Edition sooner than we think.

In March, Rockstar announced that it had acquired Video Games Deluxe, a studio with which it had previously worked on outsourced projects, and renamed it Rockstar Australia.

This team took over from Grove Street Games on Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, following that game's less-than-favorable launch, and would be the perfect fit to get a GTA 4 remaster out the door.

When Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 would be delayed by a year, fans worldwide were disappointed. The extended wait for the highly anticipated game leaves well over a decade between new entries in the series.

However, fans were 'treated' to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which was released in 2021 and featured GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. The remastered trilogy did not go down well, leading to Grove Street Games' replacement, and Video Games Deluxe ended up delivering a more polished product with the mobile ports of the remaster.

GTA 4 remastered may not have been officially announced at the time of writing. However, considering we received a re-release with quality-of-life (QOL) features for Red Dead Redemption in 2023, we could see a similar port for Niko Bellic soon.

Adding to this, the fact that Rockstar Games shut down the Liberty City Preservation Project, an ambitious attempt to recreate GTA 4 within GTA 5's engine, hints that they may have been working on their own upcoming remaster of the game.

I would welcome a current-gen release of the game, as we may not see Liberty City again in GTA till 2039 if GTA 7 follows the same lengthy development cycle that GTA 6 has had.

Either way, stick with us here for any further updates on GTA 4 Definitive Edition and all the GTA 6 news.
