Bloodborne's 10th Anniversary is here...and what do we get? Nothing, obviously.
It’s a sad day for Bloodborne fans, but let’s be honest—there was never much to expect. Sony and FromSoftware seem allergic to making Bloodborne money. (At least we got some Silksong news.)
But do we really need a Bloodborne Remastered edition? The game is still perfectly playable on PlayStation 4, and the modding community is hard at work bringing it to PC. Maybe FromSoftware should focus its efforts on a Sekiro sequel instead.
Is Sekiro 2 Possible?
Hidetaka Miyazaki has never outright said that a Sekiro sequel is off the table. Given the game’s massive success when it launched six years ago, there’s a good chance the team is already working on something.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2019—not the kind of thing FromSoftware just forgets about. There’s bound to be something Sekiro-related in the future, and I need it.
Is the Story Resolved?
FromSoftware games aren’t exactly known for straightforward storytelling. Most of the lore is tucked away in item descriptions, but Sekiro still manages to tell a compelling story.
The pursuit of immortality is the game’s central theme. Throughout our journey, we’ve faced immortal centipedes, death-defying monkeys, and an old man with a pistol. We resolved all that by putting a blade through their chests—or heads. But what about Kuro?
Kuro’s Tale
Kuro, the young heir we’ve been protecting throughout Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, has the potential to be the main character in a sequel. We might see him uncover the true origins of his lineage and perhaps even trace where Genichiro found the Mortal Blade.
Who knows?
With the rise of parry-based games like Nine Sols and Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, FromSoftware needs to address Sekiro’s future. There’s still plenty of story to tell, and with the improved combat mechanics we saw in Elden Ring, Sekiro 2 could be even better in terms of traversal and combat.
For now, all we can do is hope. But let’s be real—we have a better chance of getting a Sekiro sequel than a Bloodborne remaster.
