Needless to say, Pokemon Legends Z-A, both in the base game and the DLC, has a chock full of side missions to add a bit of flavor to our Lumiose journey. But with bigger quantity comes the sacrifice of quality. There are side missions in Legend Z-A that are funny, epic, rewarding, and memorable. This is not that conversation.
In this list, we will see all the side missions in Pokemon Legends Z-A that feel more like an afterthought than a substantial piece of storytelling data, and we'll walk down memory lane of the worst side missions of the base game and the Mega Dimension DLC.
What Are The Worst Side Missions In Pokemon Legends Z-A?
Walking a group of Trubbish down a narrow alley at a Slakoth's pace? Taking on 10 Trainers with diverse Pokemon teams without healing? Or being ravaged by two gigantic mega crabs?
I wish I could say no to all those, but yes, they are all side missions in Pokemon Legends Z-A that exist. It's a good thing they are optional, and we have this article so that you can avoid them.
Side Mission 25: Trubblesome Patrons

An NPC named Fumi works in a restaurant in Magenta Sector 4 and seeks your help in warding off a group of Trubbish by handing you a "Tasty Trash" bag so that you can take said trash Pokemon away from the restaurant.
Think that's bad? Wait until you find out you need to walk with the slowest animation possible. Some say it's charming to have some slow walking time and see the Trubbish become excited, but the mission's excruciating pacing is just not worth it. So if you see Fumi, run!
Side Mission 98: Jumbo Variety Pumpkaboo

You know what's worse than meaningless walks with trash Pokemon? Side missions that rely on RNG and leave little to no clue to finish them. This is how many players felt about this side quest. Taille, located in North Boulevard, asks that you hunt for the biggest variant of Pumpkaboo in Wild Zone 15.
You might be saying, "That's easy! Let me bench reset for an Alpha!" Nope. Alphas are not acceptable in Taille's standards. It has to be XL-sized. So yes, you will indeed be bench or zone resetting, but no clues of glowing red eyes. You will need to look for a bigger-than-usual Pumpkaboo, by chance, and use your ears to listen for one that has a bigger growl. Yikes!
Side Mission 141: Rogue Mega Showdown (DLC)

Want to hear a side mission pitch? Picture this: You buy the 30-dollar DLC, you take on Side Mission 141, and you will take on two ultra-aggressive Level 114 & 116 Mega-Evolved Crabominable, both of which are super strong, spongy as heck, and equipped with speeds that don't match their size.
Doesn't sound appealing? We think so too. Pro tip: Use that free Mega Charizard that Game Freak gave away and Mega Evolve it Mega Charizard Y, you'll thank us later.
Side Mission 94: Full Course Of Battles - Three Stars

This is another side mission where your battle "skills" will be challenged. But in my opinion? Your patience is tested more than your combat prowess. During this mission, you're set to face 10 trainers whose Pokemon are of different types and all at Level 55. The kicker? You cannot heal with items or in between battles.
So if you want my advice, despite me telling you to avoid this, bring tough Steel-types to counter the multiple Poison-types you'll be facing, and bring Pokemon who have healing moves. You can also have your Pokemon hold healing items like Shell Bell or Leftovers.
Side Mission 136: Fidough Loves Walks (DLC)

Here we are again on the walking side missions! Up the stairs of Jaune Street, along the bakery, awaits Promme and her request that you walk her Fidough around Wild Zone 19, which, according to her, is their usual route. That's all you do. You follow the Fidough.
Some people will walk by you and say "Hi" but you finish this side mission, if you could even call it that, by waiting for Fidough to return to Promme with you on its tail. Yayyyy....

For a very long time, Pokemon fans begged Game Freak to make side missions a main and meaningful part of Pokemon games. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is one of the first Pokemon games to really incorporate side missions, and for the most part, it was a success.
But with Legends Z-A, it is safe to say that it can be quite hit or miss. For now, we will continue hoping that Game Freak and The Pokemon Company will continue to improve the addition of side missions in their games. Hey Game Freak, many isn't equal to good.
