The Switch 2 might revolutionize consoles when it comes out next month, as it will have native mouse controls for plenty of games. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was already named as a game that will benefit from this, and we imagine fans can’t wait to try this feature out. It’s actually amazing to see a console trying to adapt this.

Now that we know games like Civilization are also getting this support, we decided to list Switch games that deserve mouse controls. While there aren’t a ton of entries that need this feature, some desperately need them to be more playable. Others would just benefit from having an alternate control option, as it might make PC players pick this up.

So, without further ado, here are some Switch games that would benefit from having those Switch 2 mouse controls.

DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal

We might as well list all of the first-person shooter games on Switch here, because PC fans will tell you that a normal controller just doesn’t cut it. That’s not entirely true, but we do think some games would be cooler with that option available. Naturally, DOOM 2016 and its sequel DOOM Eternal are easy contenders for that.

Although both games are already very good with a controller, having more freedom with the mouse controls could make these Switch games better. Having more control over the cursor for precise shooting, before clicking another button for Glory Kills sounds like a good time. These two games would benefit from this, even if they’re already good now.

The World Ends With You

Now for a game that needs mouse controls so it can be more playable.

Square Enix released this odd port of The World Ends With You on Switch, and fans are still confused by it. On handheld mode, this game can only be played with touch controls. If the game is docked, you’re going to need motion controls to do these actions. This is because the original game was a DS exclusive and relied entirely on touch controls, hence, the awkward port.

Having mouse controls would make a lot of this more palatable, even if it doesn’t beat proper button controls. Just being able to click on enemies for attacks already sounds a lot better than the pure touch or motion controls. We’d rather this game get a remake that copies the battle system from its pseudo-sequel NEO: The World Ends With You, but mouse controls on Switch 2 has potential.

Diablo 2: Resurrected and Diablo 3

More obvious games here, as fans would love to use mouse controls for action RPGs like Diablo.

Once again, these games are already pretty good on Switch. The controls work, there’s co-op, and most players won’t have a problem picking up either Diablo game. Still, there are PC players who don’t like regular console controls for action RPGs, so the option for mouse controls sounds enticing.

Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2

It’s easy to forget that the Switch is home to actual CRPGs, but the classic Baldur’s Gate games are here. Naturally, the Switch can run them no problem, but using normal controls for them isn’t what we’d call a recipe for success. With the Switch 2 having mouse controls, these games would play a lot better if they get updates for this method.

Another bonus here is that having these two games with mouse controls could also lead to an eventual Baldur’s Gate 3 Switch 2 port. There are some fans disappointed with the way this game runs on Steam Deck, so Nintendo could actually swoop in and make this better. While we’re at it, every CRPG on Switch should just have mouse controls in general.

Most consoles have already tried being like a PC by having apps and streaming services in them. Switch 2 goes a bit further than them by having mouse controls. If they can update Switch 1 games to have GameShare, they can do more tinkering for mouse controls.
