- Quick Answer: Square Enix achieved significant profit growth, primarily driven by the expanded reach of its Final Fantasy VII Remake titles across multiple platforms.
Square Enix is slowly building itself back up, and among the many things that have helped the studio is finally getting the Final Fantasy VII Remake series into the hands of as many players as possible, leaving the dreadful PlayStation exclusivity deal that was present in both Remake and Rebirth during their respective launch windows behind.
According to GameBiz, Square revealed that, during the first quarter of the current fiscal year (April-June) operating profit increased 88.6% year-over-year, with the gaming division securing a 51.8% revenue growth and operating profit growth of 91.8% year-over-year. Some incredible metrics helped, as mentioned, by the FFVII Remake series being multiplatform, according to the report. No specific sales were disclosed.

Other important titles include The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales and, in the MMO and mobile market sector, Final Fantasy XIV has also lent a hand to Square’s success as of late. The MMO was just released on Nintendo Switch 2 this past August 4, which has certainly boosted sales significantly. Again, no specifics were shared.
What’s even better for the company is that the next few months look jam-packed, even if we’re just talking Final Fantasy alone. Considering the fiscal year for Square Enix ends in March 2027, there may be a high likelihood we see FFVII Revelation as part of their final sales reports.
Beyond that, there’s also Final Fantasy Resonance coming out on October 22. It’s the first-ever HD-2D game in the series, merging perhaps one of the most important innovations Square Enix has made in the last 10 years with perhaps its most iconic franchise next to Dragon Quest. Finally, XIV's next major expansion, Evercold, is set to come out in January, 2027.
