Hazelight Studios’ Split Fiction is launching in just three days, and the team is already hard at work addressing the game’s ever-present co-op challenge—especially for those without a ready gaming partner.

Fortunately, Hazelight Studios has set up a dedicated Discord server for players needing a co-op companion. This is great news for those eager to dive into Josef Fares’ latest creation following the massive success of It Takes Two, which won Game of the Year at the 2021 The Game Awards.

You can join the Discord server (discord.gg/hazelight) and connect with others in the “Looking for Player” section. Gamers worldwide are actively searching for partners, making it not just a way to play Split Fiction but also a chance to meet new people.

This is a smart move from Hazelight Studios, considering most of their award-winning titles require a consistent co-op partner. Both It Takes Two and A Way Out faced similar challenges at launch, as some players struggled to experience the games due to their strict two-player requirement. Thankfully, thanks to crossplay support, Hazelight’s innovative Friend’s Pass System now allows players to team up more easily, regardless of console or platform.

With Split Fiction set to release on March 7, more players will finally have the opportunity to find a co-op partner—whether a longtime friend or a random stranger from the internet. What Hazelight Studios has accomplished with its games isn’t just about cooperative play; it’s about bringing people together and fostering new friendships online, as cheesy as it sounds.

Split Fiction is Josef Fares’ latest project following It Takes Two. The game follows the story of two writers—one specializing in fantasy, the other in science fiction—who become trapped in a simulated world of their own creation. Like It Takes Two and A Way Out features a split-screen perspective and encourages teamwork through unique gameplay mechanics. Players will solve puzzles and battle enemies using a variety of level-specific abilities, from Metroid-style suits to dragon riding and more.
