  • Quick Answer: SEGA's confirmation of a physical PS5 release indicates Persona 6 will likely launch before Sony ends physical disc production in January 2028.

A major Persona 6 update could have hinted at the game's release window.

Persona 6 was first revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase in June. Since then, we've received little to no news regarding the plot, characters, or the release date. Until now, that is. An update from SEGA may have just given us supposed confirmation on when the game will launch.

Here's everything we know about the situation.

Persona 6 Confirmed to Get a PlayStation 5 Physical Release

SEGA has officially confirmed that Persona 6 will receive a physical release exclusive to the PlayStation 5. Xbox Series X/S and PC will be a fully digital release.

In an update that was posted on their website, SEGA stated, “Persona 6 tells an all-new tale set in a never-before-seen locale, delivering the unique worldbuilding and innovative gameplay fans have come to adore. Only physical copies of the PlayStation 5 version are available.”

While the announcement didn't include a release date, it does give us a hint about when we can expect the game. Previously, Sony announced they would stop producing physical discs for PlayStation games starting in January 2028.

With this in mind, it's highly likely the game will come out in 2027, just months after Persona 4 Revival. Previously, rumors started circulating that the game could be targeting a September 2027 window. With the game's supposed occult theme, this would make it perfect for Halloween.

Additionally, Persona 6 received an official rating of Mature from the Australian Classification Board back in June, strengthening rumors that the game will come out next year.

SEGA and ATLUS have yet to release a launch date, so take this speculation with a grain of salt.
