Persona 4 Revival Might Not Have Golden Content Based on P3R’s Release

Persona 4 Revival is fairly exciting for fans of the beloved JRPG series, even if that reveal trailer felt like a rushed reaction to this badly-kept secret. After the success of Persona 3 Reload, RPG enthusiasts are pretty pumped about this release. However, fans are wondering if content from Persona 4 Golden will be included, since Reload doesn’t have content from Persona 3 Portable.

If Reload is anything to go by, this makes us wonder if the game will be a straight remake of the original P4 with no Golden content. Golden and P3P are readily available for fans who want this content, but that also means Revival could feel slightly empty without those extra bits.

Cherry-picking

Much like Persona 3 Reload, there’s a very good chance that Atlus’ Persona 4 Revival will cherry-pick the content they want from Golden. Reload kept AEGIS as a Social Link from the FES release, before adding “The Answer” as DLC. Similarly, Revival can choose certain parts from Golden that keep the main narrative tight, without adding some of that extra fluff.

We imagine that Adachi will be available right away as a Social Link, since that did add to his character. Some of the music from Golden can also make it, alongside the scooter segments that made Inaba more exciting for the cast. Everything else might be harder to implement, even as DLC.

Dear Marie, Count Me…Out?

Simply put, if Marie isn’t in Persona 4 Revival, there won’t be any Golden content. Marie is the character Golden’s extra content is centered on, and players have to complete their Social Link with her to get more story to play through. If Atlus decides not to add her, players should say bye to any extra story content added to Revival.

Fans might smugly say “just add her as DLC,” but it’s not that simple. While “The Answer” was a post-game campaign that’s easier to imagine as DLC for Persona 3 Reload, Marie’s story in P4G is intertwined with the main campaign. She literally appears in the beginning and throughout the story, so just making her DLC is impossible unless players are willing to play the game from the beginning.

This is also why they couldn’t make Persona 5 Royal’s extra content paid DLC, since all of that is sprinkled throughout the beginning, middle, and end of the game.

Reach Out to Older Versions

Only Atlus knows if Golden content will be a part of Persona 4 Revival, and fans are hoping the inclusion of the song “Time to Make History” means that will happen. Atlus can just pick that theme and not include the Golden content, or even do something completely different with Marie; their devs are the only ones who know.

Based on Reload, it doesn’t seem likely, but fans are willing to be surprised. At least, fans can buy Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable on most modern gaming systems.
