Atlus’ Persona 4 remake has been heavily rumored for some time now, with recent trademarks seemingly confirming that it's real. With Persona 3 Reload doing well for the company, a remake of their most popular entry doesn’t seem too farfetched. This is the game that popularized spinoff titles for this series, after all.
Many wondered if this remake would eventually get revealed, as Atlus has been pretty quiet about any rumors regarding it. The company has been active, with Metaphor: Refantazio becoming a huge hit for them, but they haven’t said anything. Hilariously, someone with ties to the franchise may have confirmed its existence.
Is the Persona 4 remake real?
Voice actor Yuri Lowenthal says yes.
The Spider-Man voice actor seemingly vented his frustrations on Blue Sky (via the Gaming Leaks subreddit) about this rumored Persona 4 remake. Lowenthal said that he wouldn’t be returning for the remake, even though it was something he wanted. He claims that Atlus didn’t want him back, which is sad news for the actor and his fans.
What makes this news odd is that Lowenthal did return for Persona 3 Reload. Although he didn’t voice the protagonist anymore, he did voice Yukari’s dad in a short cameo. Fans appreciated this and hoped that this tradition would continue for the remake of this Golden entry. Seems like that isn’t the case.
Unless anyone in Atlus denies the news, it looks like the Persona 4 remake is more real than we thought. Fans who enjoy Lowenthal’s performance as Yosuke can still purchase Golden to hear the iconic actor’s voice.
