After weeks of rumors and supposed leaks, a new Nintendo Direct has been confirmed for the end of this month, on July 31. This has been advertised as a Partner Showcase, so it will mostly focus on third-party games coming to Nintendo’s consoles. Consoles, because this video presentation will have games for both the Switch and Switch 2.

Nintendo’s social media accounts have confirmed that this is going to have over 25 minutes of new information for games coming to the Switch and Switch 2. Because this is the first Partner Showcase Direct in the Switch 2 era, fans are excited to see what games are going to be ported to these consoles. Will we finally get Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: Refantazio on Switch 2?

Like all of the previous Nintendo Directs, this Partner Showcase will be available on YouTube and the company’s official website. Expect plenty of Nintendo-focused streamers to also watch the event live, so they can livestream the reactions to certain games. We’re sure fans will go crazy when Borderlands 4 is re-revealed to the world, this time at a standard $70.

Because the Switch 2 can handle some big titles, there’s hope for the appearance of major ports like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which Ubisoft has hinted at recently. More news on Final Fantasy VII Remake would also be good, since that was also announced for this year. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 also seems likely, especially since Activision pledged to bring these games to Nintendo’s more powerful console.

This does have us wondering where Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is, as Nintendo said it would be launching this year. We’re more than halfway through 2025, and the lack of news surrounding this anticipated shooter is nerve-wracking. Even if there is time to announce it for a holiday release, the company is cutting it close.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is technically a third-party game, even if Nintendo is publishing it. Koei Tecmo is the developer, so there’s a chance that this game gets a release date. It was recently rated, which ups its chances.

Many of us are hoping that whatever third-party games are announced on this Nintendo Direct will have full game cards this time. To date, most publishers are going for the internet-based game-key cards because they save more money, as Nintendo only offers 64GB full game cards and nothing else smaller or cheaper.

Stay tuned for the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase tomorrow, on July 31, at 6 AM PT and 9 AM ET.
