Fans of the Ultimate Spider-Man game were heartbroken when the sequel was canceled. The game stood out with its comic book-inspired visuals and canon storyline following this alternate universe Peter Parker.

That heartbreak will continue, as more details on the canceled Ultimate Spider-Man 2 have resurfaced, showing us what could have been.

YouTube personality Spidey Santa (via the Gaming Leaks subreddit) has revealed some interesting details about this canceled sequel. USM2 would have been a canon story to the comic with a second playable character, just like the first game. In the sequel, this game would have players control Spidey and Ultimate Green Goblin rather than Spidey and Venom again.

Beyond that, Ultimate Spider-Man 2 also would have featured appearances from Daredevil, The Hand, Doctor Doom, and X-Men’s Shadowcat, amongst others. Shadowcat, in particular, is a big deal since she was his love interest for a bit in this line of comics.

Gameplay details weren’t discussed, but it probably would have been an improved version of what fans already had. The combat could have used some tweaking from the first game, but there was definitely something special to this classic Spidey game.
