The Resident Evil Showcase is coming on January 15, 2026, and fans can expect 12 minutes of Resident Evil–related content, including the upcoming Requiem. However, eagle-eyed fans have noticed awkward wording on the announcement page that suggests multiple games may be revealed.
The announcement page mentioned, “Some games included in the show aren’t suitable for children.” While that may sound like an odd takeaway for legal reasons, the non-singular “Games” seems to attract its now-hungry fanbase who want to see a certain “Code Veronica” return. Given Resident Evil: Requiem’s failed attempt to keep things secret, this might be one of their last surprise RE reveals for this year.

Fans suspect that this is another multiplayer game similar to Resident Evil: ReVerse or Resistance. While they’re not really part of the main game, these bite-sized online modes serve as a great distraction that detracts from the usual single-player horror storyline from their mainline titles. It’s usually fun until Capcom decides to axe the project and calls it a day.
Capcom is notorious for these kinds of multiplayer tie-ins in their games, and if fan predictions are correct, this might be another throwaway online game nobody asked for.
A standalone Mercenaries-type of game mode also looks like a plausible choice. Most RE entries always have an arcade-y version of their zombie shooting shenanigans. It’s the perfect game mode to test Leon’s wizened old man motif with his axes and roundhouse kicks.

We might also see the possibility of adding new playable characters into the game mode, like Ada Wong or maybe Jill Valentine’s first re-appearance after years of absence. Adding Mercenaries for Resident Evil: Requiem wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility.
More realistically, this could just be the Nintendo Switch 2 ports for all three modern Resident Evil titles that’ll arrive on the platform when Requiem comes out. Obviously, this will disappoint those who expected something more, such as a teaser for a Code Veronica Remake or perhaps something related to Resident Evil Outbreak. Personally? I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
The Resident Evil Showcase isn’t due until Friday, January 15, 2026. We have no way of knowing whether it might be just a teaser for the Resident Evil Nintendo Switch 2 bundles or another multiplayer tie-in. Knowing Capcom’s previous showcases, we should always temper our expectations. Unless?
