Uh oh, Monster Hunter Wilds players hoping for Capcom to fully iron out performance issues on PC might have to wait until Winter before things truly smooth out. The news came alongside the official patch notes for Version 1.021, where game director Yuya Tokuda shared new details about today’s biggest update.

In his Director’s Note, Tokuda explained that major fixes aimed at reducing CPU load will not arrive until Winter 2025 in Title Update 4, a patch we still know very little about.

For now, Capcom’s latest Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2 delivers notable performance improvements, fixing shader compilation bugs and cutting CPU load from anti-cheat processes by roughly 90 percent. The update also adds support for DLSS 4 and FSR 4, giving players new options to boost frame rates while easing processor demands.

Many players with lower-end PCs have already reported significant framerate gains in Title Update 2 (the Lagiacrus and Seregios update), even without Frame Generation enabled. Still, framerate dips and occasional crashes continue to affect some systems.

Texture streaming has also been improved, reducing cases of low-quality “PlayStation One-like” textures when monsters suddenly enter view.

Looking ahead, Capcom warns that higher native frame rates can increase CPU usage, particularly when FPS limits are set too high or left uncapped. This could strain certain processors, especially those with known stability issues. While the team is exploring further CPU optimizations, they plan to move carefully to avoid compromising the RE Engine’s overall performance. Players are advised to set frame rate caps suited to their hardware.

Title Update 3 will also continue to improve on performance and stability fixes as it comes out at the end of September.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the Director’s Note is that the major performance fixes are being scheduled for Title Update 4, which is expected to arrive around December 2025 alongside a new lineup of monsters and fresh challenges.

Version 1.021 of Monster Hunter Wilds is out now, bringing a hefty amount of new content. Players can dive into a repeatable endgame grind to hunt RNG Talismans with random skills or take on the game’s brutal 9-Star monsters, tougher and more dangerous versions of Wilds’ hardest foes.
