Monster Hunter Wilds' Title Update 4 is here, and it’s bringing along the game’s first Elder Dragon: Gogmazios. This fearsome foe is the ultimate test of your skills, pushing your Hunter and your hard-earned builds to their limit.
This is why Capcom has turned this into a massive 8-player siege, with high risk and high rewards. But before you take on the Giant Halberd Dragon of yore, you might want to spruce up your armor’s defense by using the game’s new Transcend mechanic.
What is Armor Transcendence?

Armor Transcendence is basically expanding an armor’s level. Normally, Rarity 5 and above Armors have a set level limit where you can upgrade to. For example, Rarity 8 armors are capped at level 10, but using ‘Transcend’ can increase this cap by four more levels.
A level 10 Rarity 8 Arkveld or Seregios Armor can reach up to level 14, which can then be upgraded using Armor Spheres. Enhancing armors increase its defense, making you less susceptible to one-shot attacks from the most powerful monsters in the game, even Savage Omega Planetes.
How to Transcend Armors

The first thing you should do is head straight to the smithy, Gemma, and select the Forge/Upgrade Armors tab. This opens a new selection where you can boost each of your currently unlocked armors and ‘Transcend’ them.
Transcending an armor costs 8,000 zenny and a breadth of materials, including Hunter Symbol III, gems, and a few parts from the monster’s armor. This is the true endgame grind for Monster Hunter Wilds, as it encourages players to hunt more of a monster’s precious and rare materials.
Keep in mind that Armor Transcending is limited to Rarity 5 armors. You can’t transcend armors below it, which means all the Low Rank armors are not part of this feature.
Once your preferred armors are transcended, you can now use Armor Spheres to boost their defensive stats.
Where to Farm More Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds

To farm more Armor Spheres, players will need to take on Event Quests that guarantee Armor Sphere drops. Below are several Event Quests you can farm to obtain more Armor Spheres:
- Careening Out of Control - Rewards Armor Spheres and Armore Spheres+
- Tongue-Tied - Rewards Hard Armor Spheres and Advanced Armor Spheres
- Wreaking Havoc in Wyveria - Rewards Hard Armore Spheres
As for Heavy Armor Spheres, Capcom has announced that an Event Quest to obtain them will be added in the future. Alternatively, 8 and 9-Star hunts also provide Armor Sphere drops, but it’s not always guaranteed. The best way to get more Heavy Armor Spheres is using the Smelting Ore in Azuz, but it's expensive as it requires monster parts.
For added context, one of Monster Hunter Wilds’ unspoken endgame activities is farming Armor Spheres. These essential resources are used to upgrade your armor’s defense, allowing you to push each piece to its maximum potential.
Armor Spheres come in all shapes and sizes, but Heavy Armor Spheres are the most valuable. They provide significantly more upgrade value compared to Regular, Hard, and Advanced Armor Spheres, making them a top priority for endgame hunters.
