It is always fun to fight and hunt monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. You will see and go up against numerous monsters that have varying attacks and environmental conditions. While armor and weapons provide your main stats, other equipment gives you an advantage for a limited time against formidable monsters.
Mantles are included in these pieces of equipment and have their unique effects when worn. A few examples are the Mending Mantle, Rocksteady Mantle, and the Corrupted Mantle.
Follow this guide to find out how to get the Corrupted Mantle, its effects, and the possible situations to use it!
Effects of the Corrupted Mantle
The Corrupted Mantle can be seen as a double-edged sword (cloak, in this matter), fitting for hunters who love high-risk, high-reward gameplay. It increases the affinity and stats of your weapons by up to 30%, but this would be at the cost of your character's health as it will decrease when it's worn.
There are two stats when using the mantle: The first stat is activated as soon as you wear the mantle and increases the affinity of your weapon by 10%.
The second stat activates after dealing a certain number of attacks, which provides the player with 20% additional weapon affinity (on top of the first 10%) and +20 attack. It also removes the health penalty for the rest of the mantle's uptime.
The mantle's effect time is around 120 seconds with a cooldown of 600 seconds.
How to Get the Corrupted Mantle
First, you will need to complete the "A World Turned Upside Down" quest. To be able to unlock the Corrupted Mantle, you will need to defeat a High-Rank Gore Magala in this quest line.
You will need to meet Fabius in the Ruins of Wyveria and visit the three base camps in any order: Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and Oilwell Basin. For each base camp, you will need to hunt three different monsters.
Upon arrival at Oilwell Basin, Maki will be looking for you. You will be prompted to hunt a Nu Udra. After defeating the monster, go to Azuz and report to the chiefs.
For Scarlet Forest, you will go up against a Uth Duna. Talk to Sassafril to see what is happening. After completing the hunt, just talk to Sassafril again.
At the Windward Plains camp, you will need to speak to Alma to start the investigation in this area. Upon checking the Kunafa village, you will find a Rey Dau. Complete the hunt for this monster.
Defeat Gore Magala
Once you arrive at the Iceshard Cliffs, you will meet Fabius. Continue with the story and eventually, you will need to go up against Gore Magala.
Speak to Gemma
After completing the hunt for Gore Magala, just go back to Gemma and speak to her. The Corrupted Mantle will be available by then.
Tip for Using the Corrupted Mantle
When the monster is down, you can equip the mantle to avoid the risk of getting hit by an attack. You can then continuously lash out your combo to quickly activate its second stat.
