When I first saw Hello Kitty Party Land during the June Nintendo Direct, I was excited. I thought, "Finally, a game I could play with my girls!"

That is, until I saw it was a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

Look, I understand being platform-exclusive for single-player games, but a party game? And one with over 40 mini-games? It just doesn't make sense to me. All I could think about was how a lot of my friends don't own a Nintendo Switch, which led me to wonder who I'd even party up with.

I had actually mentioned the game to my closest circle, and while some were excited, there were several people who said they wouldn't be able to play it. After all, it wouldn't make sense to buy a whole new console just to play one game. One of my best friends, who is a huge Pompompurin fan, even expressed her wish for the game to come out on Steam.

With the game launching on October 29, all I can think about is how much bigger and better it could be if it were coming to PC or supported cross-play. For most gamers, PC is the easiest way for friends to play together. It would be so much easier to play Hello Kitty Party Land if I could just send a Steam invite and dive into the mini-games without telling my friends to buy a Nintendo Switch.

Am I still getting the game? Most likely. It looks fun and whimsical, and I'm sure if I search hard enough, I'll find someone to play with. However, I can't help but wish the game was releasing on more platforms. Party games should have a wide audience, as it's a genre meant to be played with others, and Hello Kitty Party Land has all the ingredients to be a massive success, especially if Xbox, PC, and PlayStation users could experience it too.
