To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Ubisoft has released a free major update for Ghost Recon Wildlands, which includes a brand-new narrative mission titled Last Rites.

Numerous leaks were finally confirmed during a special anniversary showcase, with Wildlands receiving some noticeable upgrades on current-gen consoles. The fan-favorite entry now supports 4K at 60 FPS, providing improved responsiveness and smoother performance in general.

In addition to various other gameplay and customization enhancements, Wildlands will now see players encounter La Llorona, a dangerous new threat who has emerged in a darker, more oppressive Bolivia.

According to Creative Director Olivier Leonardi, "La Llorona has become an untouchable icon, revered by the Bolivian people almost as a saint. Gathering devoted followers to her cause, she compels disciples known as Los Penitentes to wear masks and act as the ruthless executors of her will, delivering merciless retribution to anyone connected to the events that sealed her fate."

Speaking about what players can expect, Olivier added: "The more the Ghosts advance in her territory, the more they discover her twisted personality and how devoted her disciples are. Through different documents and audio recordings scattered across the world, players will be able to discover more about her goals and what she represents for the Bolivian people."

The new Wildlands update features a reorganized main menu with a separate tab for the Last Rites story content. This means it can be played straight away, and you do not need to finish or make progress in the main campaign to access it.

Last Rites Completion Rewards

Players who complete the Last Rites Mission will unlock two new Operator Skins and one new Iconic Skin, which can then be used in the main campaign.

Details on exactly what these skins are remain limited, with Ubisoft describing one of them as "a mysterious Operator Skin".

What we do know, however, is that PlayStation Plus members can get their hands on an exclusive Iconic Skin of La Llorona, the powerful P416 Micteca, and the new 4-SHUR Blue Leader Sunglasses.
