It’s officially been 10 years since Bloodborne was released on PlayStation 4, and fans are still sipping on that copium hoping a remaster will happen. We’ve seen fan patches that make the action RPG 60 FPS and a whole PS4 emulator just to play this game on PC, but PlayStation hasn’t done a thing with this exclusive.
Fans just want to play this game in 4K and 60 FPS. However, they already have a Victorian-era Soulslike they can play with these settings. The only problem is that it’s called Lies of P.
We’re sure there are Soulslike fans who are familiar with Lies of P. Thanks to a combination of gorgeous visuals and a unique fairytale-like setting, this quickly became a talking point amongst gamers. It won several awards and is about to get prologue DLC that gives the game more boss fights for players to get through.
Simply put, fans who have been replaying Bloodborne until the remaster comes out should give the Pinnochio RPG another spin. Yes, the P stands for Pinnochio, but that’s not the important part.
For the sake of fair conversation, saying that Lies of P is exactly like Bloodborne is unfair since there’s just something about FromSoftware titles that tickles the brains of hardcore gamers. Like players who just want more Persona games, there’s something about the FromSoftware combat system that the devs do better than everyone else. That’s not to say other Soulslike games have been bad, but it’s not right to say they all play the same, despite similar mechanics.
However, with Sony and FromSoftware not giving much love to Bloodborne over the past few years, telling fans to move on isn’t that harsh. After all, fans have made patches that already make this game better. Yes, an official release from Sony and the FromSoftware devs would be a lot better, but just waiting for that won’t do gamers any good.
There is a lot to like about Lies of P, with most players agreeing that it’s a pretty competent Soulslike RPG. It looks good, plays well, has a great setting, and makes the genre feel a bit fresh. Sure, it’s not Bloodborne, but fans of the PS4 exclusive should give this a chance if they haven’t already.
With Lies of P getting its Overture DLC this Summer, fans will have even more of this game to enjoy. It’s a bit similar to Bloodborne’s The Old Hunters DLC, but with a completely different story and characters. That’s a joke, but it’s always good seeing a game like this get DLC since fans of the genre always want a big challenger.
Definitely give Lies of P a chance if you’re still waiting for a Bloodborne remaster, and if you’ve already played Lies of P to death, wait for that DLC.
