March is set to be a busy yet exciting month for gamers, with the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows and WWE 2K25 just two of the many games on the way.

However, early indications suggest Atomfall is another title that shouldn't be overlooked when it releases on March 27.

Developed by Rebellion (Sniper Elite and Strange Brigade), Atomfall is a first-person survival-action game inspired by real-life events and set five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster in Northern England.

In Atomfall, it's up to players to discover the deep-lying secrets behind what really happened at Windscale, but that's not without encountering the British military, deadly robots, cultists, and creatures, among various other obstacles in your way.

As the launch date edges closer, the early signs for Atomfall are very positive, with numerous reviews and hands-on impressions full of praise for its mysterious story, setting, combat, and eerie atmosphere.

Another reason to be excited about Atomfall is that the game's head of design, Ben Fisher, admitted it's somewhat inspired by Fallout: New Vegas.

Speaking to TheGamer, Fisher said: "The narrative (of New Vegas) largely all reflects this key location and the events happening in that location, and all of the characters you come across are esoteric people that have a perspective on this central location."

The inspiration from Fallout becomes even clearer due to the ability to kill every character that's in Atomfall.

"So we asked the question, what happens if we lean right into that Rebellion cultural DNA of giving players freedom and openness?" Fisher explained. "What if we just let them kill everyone? And you know, they might close routes to themselves, but that's fine. That's valid for their play style."

In addition to Fallout, early comparisons have also been made to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Far Cry. I don't know about you, but that's enough for me to pick up Atomfall and give it a try.

Everything points towards this being a nice surprise for gamers, let's hope that turns out to be the case.

Atomfall is coming to Game Pass on day one and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
