It looks like Far Cry 7’s plot has surfaced online, and so far, it’s shaping up to be an interesting one. Ubisoft’s first-person shooter franchise has been around for quite some time, but it wasn’t until Far Cry 3 that the series fully embraced open-world exploration.

In the case of Far Cry 7, leaks are once again making the rounds after a post on Reddit’s r/GamingLeaksAndRumors detailed the game’s potential premise.

According to the leak, Far Cry 7 revolves around a wealthy family called the Bennets. Layla, Dax, Brie, Christian, Henry, and Krista are siblings embroiled in a power struggle. The plot appears to follow a dynamic similar to HBO’s hit series Succession, but Far Cry 7 introduces guns and explosive action instead of corporate warfare.

As with all Far Cry games, the villain plays a crucial role. This time, the antagonist is Ian Duncan, a conspiracy theorist leading a cult-like army of devoted followers. His portrayal remains unknown, but since Far Cry 7 is reportedly set in New England, we could see an English actor such as Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, or Colin Firth take the role. Unfortunately, those wishing for Cillian Murphy might be disappointed.

Ian Duncan appears to be at odds with the Bennets, driven by his deep-seated resentment toward the wealthy elite. His charisma — an essential trait for any Far Cry villain — makes him a formidable adversary.

The leaks also mention secondary characters, including John Mackay and a doctor named Safna Kazan, though their roles in the story remain unclear. They likely serve as NPCs offering quests and aiding in exploration.

While the New England setting has yet to be officially confirmed, it has been frequently mentioned in leaked descriptions. If true, we may see a shift from the series’ signature tropical jungles to an urban environment.

Of course, this remains speculative and should be taken with a grain of salt. Ubisoft has yet to confirm any details about Far Cry 7. The studio is currently focused on developing Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which it has described as a make-or-break project.

As of now, Far Cry 7 has no official release date.
